silvrsvt
Mustang, F-150, C-max looking thing, and what I think its the Edge Attribute mule http://jalopnik.com/the-2015-ford-mustang-races-other-ford-concepts-in-ariz-990949712?utm_campaign=socialflow_jalopnik_facebook&utm_source=jalopnik_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
timf
The "mystery crossover" looks to be one of the MKC prototypes that have been running around for the past few months. I'm not sure why reporters still have such a hard time identifying them.

bzcat
It this is the case, based on the camo, it's not getting the clam-shell type door. I don't know how you can draw that conclusion by looking at this photo. And yes, this is definitely the MKC mule, probably under going final durability (abuse) testing. akirby
Maybe he has Borg's ability to see through camo....
woodrowwilson
Looks like the camo has a seam in it where a standard liftgate would be.

RichardJensen
I don't know if that's the MKC. Everything on the MKC should've been frozen by now
NLPRacing
I don't know if that's the MKC. Everything on the MKC should've been frozen by now That's what I was thinking. I would guess this is an Edge.
timf
I don't know if that's the MKC. Everything on the MKC should've been frozen by now Looks identical to me. The design may be frozen, but testing will continue until the production vehicles go on sale. jesster1228
Looks like the camo has a seam in it where a standard liftgate would be. There's also a huge seam along the rear bumper above the reflectors, going up at an angle through the "SE" in the word "PLEASE", over the top just after the shark fin antenna exactly where a clamshell door would open. Less than six months out? Bit too late to be making major changes.

NLPRacing
I just them outside of Durango. The CUV's look too large to be the MKC. They looked like Edge's to me.

Maybe testing an alternate powertrain that won't be available at launch? e.g. hybrid or 2.3 Ecoboost

Could be doing powertrain calibration, and just general long term wear testing.
mike_in_va
Here's another view of that same group of cars: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=768 We see the "Edge" again 3rd photo down. I'm pretty convinced its the Edge and not the MKC but I can't be sure. Edited August 5, 2013 by mike_in_va
RichardJensen
I dunno. Isn't the Edge bigger than that?
mike_in_va
I dunno. Isn't the Edge bigger than that? I stand corrected, that is the MKC. It matches this mule almost exactly: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2014-lincoln-mkc-spy-photos-news
RichardJensen
Well, we only have the spy photog's say-so on the C&D photo as well. But seeing a guy next to the prototype in Arizona makes it pretty clear it's smaller than the Edge.
rmc523
I dunno. Isn't the Edge bigger than that? I was thinking the same exact thing -- looks too small to be the Edge. Edited August 6, 2013 by rmc523
Fordowner
The grill looks cheap through the camo and the lower area looks more typical or boring than the prototype
NLPRacing
I dunno. Isn't the Edge bigger than that? The Mustangs I saw today look to be the same as the ones in Arizona. But, the CUV's looked bigger. I drive an Escape everyday. The CUV's I saw today in heavy camo were definitely wider than an Escape. Seeing those drive by was the coolest thing I've ever seen.
