RichardJensen
I don't see any salvaging happening. I can't see how they'd have time to do it on site.
Pioneer
By "salvaging", I mean saving and reusing equipment.
blazerdude20
By "salvaging", I mean saving and reusing equipment. That makes sense. Guess the right term would be recycling, many tax credits for recycling everything.
Extreme4x4
Geez, all that makes me want to see video even more. It has to be a fascinating process. Short of building a new plant from scratch, this has to be the next best thing....................... and in some ways even more intense due to the removal of everything that was there. SoonerLS
I didn't watch Fresh Prince and I knew what he meant. It was a common saying around here years ago. I'm not sure how common it was, but I heard it before Fresh Prince. I hung around a bunch of veterans, and that's where I picked it up.

That option was on the table, but the time frame was too short. There is room for another body shop where the old Mustang "B" building was. Some of it still stands where DTP body ties into the paint building.
fordmantpw
That option was on the table... That really gives you an idea of how big of a deal this new F150 is for Ford. Just the thought that building a new plant was an option tells us this is a BIG change.

twintornados
History in the making - the first Aluminum body truck!! You do know that Grumman (now Morgan Olson) and Utilimaster have been building aluminum bodied delivery trucks for decades....right?
Pioneer
You do know that Grumman (now Morgan Olson) and Utilimaster have been building aluminum bodied delivery trucks for decades....right? Nobody has built an aluminum vehicle on this scale and line rate. Nobody.
akirby
Nobody has built an aluminum vehicle on this scale and line rate. Nobody. That wasn't the question though. The question was "is it durable?".

wellandford
with Dearborn shutdown for the change over all remaining f150's will be coming from Kansas - is there any difference in the quality of the product being produced at each plant - so if you have a Kansas built truck would it have the same quality as what was built in Dearborn? Pioneer
No difference. Same standards are used. New trucks already being built. Simply amazing. I'm hearing there will be a DVD produced about the whole Body and Stamping changeover, including time lapsed video of the Body Shop demo and install.
wellandford
Thanks with Dearborn shutdown new trucks coming out of Kansas likely will take twice as long since now production is cut in half!!!

There shouldn't be any major difference in quality. If there was, you have a major problem on your hands

Amazing- when you look at the time frame-iots been what ? four weeks come Sat AM?- and per that piece on 1100 trailer loads of new equipment, it is truly mind boggling! wellandford
That DVD would be great to see - if they are already producing they might be able to start shipping customer orders by late November!!
Extreme4x4
Pioneer, please let us know when the DVD is available. That is certainly something that I would get. It is almost unfathomable that the plant is up and running already. Wow !!! Big kuddos to Ford for organizing the logistics correctly !!! Pioneer
I don't know if the DVD will be for sale. What I've heard is it will be given away with the new truck. If not ready for the initial purchase, it will be mailed to the owner.
