Edstock
Yeah - I'm thinking at least $225K but we'll see. And you have to just shake your head at the "but I wish it had a V8" crowd. Yup. But, IMHO, the side view of the GT seems long enough to take a V-8/10/12 ahead of the transaxle. Like RJ said, the 90° width could be a problem, but Ford could ion-beam weld 2 2.7 60° V-6's together, like they used to do for Aston, and make a 5.4 V-12. akirby
But I'm not convinced you'd get any performance improvement and to do it simply for nostalgia is silly.
wolfpack219
Anybody who thinks Ford is going into this blind against the LE Man's comp is crazy. It my be called ecoboost for marketing purposes but I can bet that motor is wicked in every way. Ford already knows where the car sits against Ferrari and the others. Awesome! 351cid
Over 600 hp was a pretty good clue....... FIFY Remember the GT500 was "going to be over 600 hp" and ended up being 662 hp.

Seems Ford has (since 2000) made sure they under promise on hp.

351cid
Be nice to see that motor make its way into a light weight Mustang. Then we could ask the Mopar boys; "Hellcat what?"
fuzzymoomoo
Be nice to see that motor make its way into a light weight Mustang. Then we could ask the Mopar boys; "Hellcat what?"It would win based on the fact it could go fast both in a straight line AND while turning + use the recently trademarked EcoBeast name and you have a cool name to go with it Edited January 13, 2015 by fuzzymoomoo

jpd80
Detroit shock: Australian designs new Ford GT supercar, but it won’t be sold Down Under http://www.news.com.au FORD has taken the covers off its latest Ferrari fighter, the new GT supercar — and in a move that will be sure to shock North Americans, the iconic vehicle was designed by an Australian. Todd Willing, a softly spoken man from Hobart who previously worked on the Ford Territory family SUV, has been working for Ford Australia for the past 12 years. But he was posted to Detroit two years ago to work on the top secret project, and has since returned to Ford’s design studios in Broadmeadows, where he is now the head of Ford’s Asia-Pacific design team. The new GT supercar was so classified that only the top level of Ford management in Detroit knew about it, and Willing wasn’t even able to tell his wife, family or friends what he was doing at work. silvrsvt
Only reason it won't be sold there is because the steering wheel is on the wrong side

akirby
Why would you have to convert it? Can't you import one as a grey market car? People drive RHD cars here.
jpd80
Why would you have to convert it? Can't you import one as a grey market car? People drive RHD cars here. most authorities here don't permit driving newer LHD cars here, only +30 year old imports with special license. I agree, it's probably silly laws intended to keep grey imports to a minimum, most of our roads here are not freeways so overtaking B-Double semis on your passenger's say so can be quite, well exciting in a bad way...
