rmc523
Not a pretty month for Ford SUVs at all - all models were down.
Dequindre
It's interesting to me that no other automaker (other than Hyundai, to an extent) has brought a Maverick-fighter to the market. It continues to impress in sales.
ausrutherford
Ram is looking over its soldier seeing the Sierra catch up to it. Crazy how much Stellantis has screwed it up.

Thank you again for all your efforts proving the monthly figures, it adds a certain clarity to what’s actually happening. And comparisons with GM figures also fill ins a lot of detail. F Series had a sub 60,000 sales month, that’s a sign of slowing sales which would be concerning to Ford. Just saying that sales drops in main profit earners really hurt Ford, other less core products not so much. What surprises me though is how well Lightning is doing compared to EV Silverado, GM spent a bomb on that thing and the sales are just not coming… Could that be a worrying sign to Ford and its next Gen BEV Truck? Hell yeah. Edited October 4 by jpd80

To be fair, the economy is falling apart as of late. So I think we're gonna see larger, more expensive vehicles take a hit.

Fair, though smaller products like BS and Escape were also down (unless that was due to production issues or something).

Ford North America is too dumb to figure why so many consumers are buying GM over Ranger. In this day and age, and with high vehicle prices, consumers want/expect creature comforts like 4 Auto transfer case, rear seat vents, ventilated front seats, that GM offers on 6+ trims. And GM is closest in sales to Toyota than they have ever been in the midsize.

While I don't disagree that some if not all of those features should be available, that is a broad oversimplification of those figures. 1) Ranger has been very production limited (numbers literally zeroed out back in February), and units have been trickling in to dealers. 2) GM's trucks are also new 3) Tacoma is new and Toyota is having production issues with it too. Ranger was consistently outselling Colorado and Canyon (individually, not combined) before they hung it out to dry to favor Bronco production/before the redesign.

I'd rather Ford slowly go into production for the Ranger than launch and have issues like the Colorado/Canyon and Tacoma have had.

GM and Hyundai are both beating Ford in the EV game even though Ford’s electric vehicles are having a record sales run as the big shots said Report states GM overtook Ford at #2 in US behind Tesla. If Ford is backing off EVs they have been successful. The investor event on Tuesday comes after GM's U.S. EV sales vaulted 60% in the third quarter, compared with a 2% decline for its total new vehicle sales. The auto giant overtook Ford to become the No. 2 EV seller behind Tesla in the U.S. market, at least for now, thanks to a growing lineup of new and cheaper electric models. It has overcome production challenges as well. https://www.investors.com/news/gm-stock-no-2-ev-maker-behind-tesla-investor-event/

Yea, by backing off EVs Ford has been successful helping its competitors be more successful. Time for the big shots at Ford to answer Dan Quayle's question: The question is whether we're going forward to tomorrow or whether we're going to go past to the back! Not sure if number of models matters as much as giving buyers what they want, or else a product with more value; whether perceived or real. Tesla volume is dominated by two models, their Models Y and 3, and both sell in higher volume than others combined. Tesla also makes a profit on EVs while Ford and GM do not. I’m not even sure most buyers know what they really want in an EV; it may be more about what they don’t want. I keep thinking EVs are much different than ICE vehicles in ways other than powertrain, and some buyers may not want to accept that change yet, if ever. All of Ford Motor Company's EV are Ford brand, while at GM their EV are spread across four different brands. Cadillac, Chevy, GMC, Brightdrop. I think Brightdrop will become part of Chevy soon if not already

Then why does Tesla Model Y by itself outsell 3 different Ford EVs combined? There’s more to it IMO than offering more choices. To be clear, I wasn’t making a point on GM versus Ford other than Ford is succeeding at backing off EV sales, as others previously wished for. Reducing sales is pretty easy to do if that’s the goal — just increase prices. 😀
