I am in the same exact situation as you. Starting to look for replacement ideas for my 16 Edge, which I love. Explorer too big and Escape smaller and missing content that my Edge has.
Short term, Mach E would be your only choice, but it obviously sits lower.
Longer term, they're supposedly going to make an Edge-like BEV, but plans have changed 800 times.
I apologize for bringing up an old topic if this has been addressed before. I've skimmed the posts but haven't seen a definite answer. I know the Edge is dead but is there no plan to bring something new into the mid-size 2-row SUV segment? The Escape doesn't have the comfort and my wife and I don't need a 3-row vehicle. Seems like a mid-size hybrid 2-row would be a perfect compromise for many buyers. And no, I'm not interested in paying the upcharge for a Lincoln made in China.
Yes, it is. I'm looking for a replacement for my 2016 Edge Sport and now my options will be Escape or Explorer and not really wanting either one of them. I would probably move to the Escape, but the amount of feature lost is really making me think to look at other brands.
...just, no.
I knew what this would be, I knew the basic specs and reality from the trends...
...but the Mach-E is a sibling to "Real" Mustangs. As someone who owned and loved 70's Capris (and still contemplates finding an 80s RS to build)...I wish they'd have done something more in the spirit of the original, at least to start with.
This is just another battery-powered blob with a classic nameplate, and it'll be too close in price/spec to make it over here with the Mach E already in showrooms.
Hi everyone - this may be my first post since joining the forum. Like many of you, I've had to do most of my research on the Expedition forums.
Question is: Has anyone deleted the factory heat exchanger and added an auxillery cooler for the transmission? If so would you mind sharing your learnings and any recommendations please? Much appreciated!
My understanding is the heat exchanger's primary purpose is really just to warm up the trans quicker. And since it's tied into the main coolant system the trans can never be cooler than the engine once it's reached operating temps. As a result when towing, the heavy usage of twin turbos heat up the oil, sending it to the heat exchanger which "pushes" the trans coolant temps higher artificially. Does this sound like an accurate understanding of the system?
I have the 18' Navi L 4x4 Reserve w/ NO tow package. Bought a small travel trailer under the max tow limit and max payload, all good there, but towing it home from the dealership my trans fluid hit 237f and started venting due to fluid expansion. We took it in to be safe and the Lincoln/Ford Tech said no damage done but we should tow less, WTF! I really really do not want to trade-in the Navigator just because of poorly designed coolant system. This is why I'm here, considering deleting the heat exchanger and adding an auxillary trans cooler. Uggggh!
9 & 10 come from engine to the heat exchanger 1
3 shows the trans coolant loop connecting to the heat exchanger
GM has been importing from South Korea for a while now, and I think that’s more of a product of them wanting to keep that plant running and the Korean union happy (it’s the Daewoo plant) vs. it’s the profitable option. There’s zero chance they ever made money on the Aveo (remember that shitbox? Lol) and I can’t imagine the Trex/Trailblazer imports are coming out much more ahead either.
Chevy builds the Trax in South Korea. I guess they are able to save enough money by importing them and still make a profit? I too wish ford had a competitor to this. GM has 3-4 subcompact SUVs in the low to mid 20k range. Ford doesn’t have any good looking small SUVs internationally, so there is nothing they could import either.
I wonder if we are on the verge of seeing more vehicles being imported? Lincoln is already bringing in the nautilus but it’s low volume. The trax is now one of chevys biggest sellers. If they are able to make a decent profit importing, what’s to stop them or other manufacturers from doing it?
