A distinction without a difference if Gear Up rewards work the same way, which is exactly what they’re implying. They even said “enhanced earning opportunities and redemption options so it might actually be better than FordPass.
Interesting use of word “sidekick”. Wonder if pure coincidence or intentional to tease. Granted the Sidekick was from Suzuki, but the two companies have shared history, and also with Toyota IIRC. A modern compact Sidekick could be cool if done right.
Here’s what Subaru did say, though: “Get ready to meet your newest adventure-ready sidekick from Subaru: the all-new 2026 Subaru Trailseeker EV SUV. See it in person at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, coming soon.”
It clearly says you’ll start earning Gear Up rewards points on the new card. They’re just changing card issuers the program itself appears to be unchanged,
Ford Says Employee Pricing Has Doubled Dealer Showroom Traffic
“Dealer showroom traffic has climbed by double digits,” the automaker said in a statement. “And our dealers say they love the message, and it is driving business results as well.” That’s obviously a good thing for dealers, particularly as there are many uncertainties as it pertains to tariffs and the potential that new vehicle pricing could increase – perhaps even substantially – in the near future.
Sounds to me like points can still be used just fine - he just doesn't like that the card will no longer build points for Ford service/points anymore, so the only way to get points now is by purchasing a vehicle and/or parts and service.
