Thanks akirby. I'll look into the pdf. I have no seat buttons on the door nor anywhere else other than the actual adjustment controls on the side of the seat. CJ Dave.
I was looking at the specs of the Lincoln Nautilus and it’s roughly the same width as the Territory and Equator Sport. The Territory and Equator Sport have similar platform codes as the Nautilus also.
Maybe we are looking at this the wrong way-the current Escape/Bronco Sport/Maverick are on the “narrow” C2 platform (72-74in wide) while the Territory/Equator Sport/Nautilus/Edge/Mondeo are the wide C2 variants that are 75-77 plus inches wide.
So maybe there is more platform sharing
going on then first meets the eye.
And here are my charts, with sales percentage breakdowns on the right.
Lighting and E-Transit sales are falling off a cliff....
Mustang still doing poorly too.
On a more positive note, the new Expedition and Navigator are doing very well. Lincoln overall is doing fantastic....hopefully they can maintain the momentum.....though it'll be hard to maintain the next couple of years with seemingly no product on the horizon.
Bronco is doing well, though the increase isn't reaching combined Bronco + Edge sales volumes.
It's funny that probably half of us on this site have said Ford should do this, because it feels like the most logical thing in the world, yet they probably won't.
But they didn’t state CY or MY either.
The rumor was that the Escape would end production the end of this year, but the latest info now saying it will get a 2026MY, which means that after September of this year it can be called a 2026MY.
My guess is that the Escape will remain in production for maybe another year from
now and Louisville will shut down for retooling anywhere from March 2026 to June and spend the rest of the year retooling and maybe production restarting with the CE1 at the end of 2026 with a launch in January of 2027 or so of the new product.
But then again I’m of the mindset of moving the CE1 to BOC and making C2 hybrids/EREVs at LAP instead. But we will see.
What's also hilarious is that Ford undermines its own global profitability and economies of scale by dropping global models.
I'm thinking they're going to extend production for a short period (like you're saying) and they're going to pump out a bunch of them to build up enough inventory to last them through a transition period while the factory changes over.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this beast.
So far, couple of minor issues. Batteries failed at 38 months. Dealer tested them shortly before that, and declared them good. Replaced with AGM. Front camera just went intermittent, dealer installed a new camera. Still worried about CP4, running Opti-Lube XPD in every fillup. I've started using Blue Def Ultimate due to it's lessened propensity to crystalize. Rear roof trim piece, probably got yanked loose in a car wash. Repair requires removing rear window. I passed, dealer recommended using windshield glue on the trim. Knock sensor went bad, throwing a code. Replaced under warranty.
One thing I would love to see Ford change, when using the towing camera, Sync 4 goes into backup mode, full screen camera, voice commands don't work. I wish it acted like the bed camera and would operate in split screen.
This thing is a beast, I'm pulling a smaller 5th wheel, fully loaded around 13.5k. It will accelerate going up 6% grades, never balking. I stayed with 3.31 gears, and on level grade, easily goes into 10th gear. Adaptive cruise RTFW, especially while towing. I do wish the transmission would downshift sooner. It loses about 5mph while towing before it downshifts. I've gotten into the habit of poking the throttle when starting uphill. Easily holds the speed. Love the huge fuel tank, 48gal... hate parking the CCLB, it's not fun. Rollup hard tonneau cover works well, but it does take up bed space. I like being able to stand on it. I'd probably go to backflip style instead. Replace tires with Michelin, and they ride a bit better.
I know the post is a bit old, but you're looking at empty weight, not GVWR. you're not going to find 42' 5th wheel in the wt range you're quoting. Quite frankly, at 40' you should be looking at a dually, especially with the number of passengers. You'll quickly run out of payload capacity. If you plan to do the mountains out west, diesel will be your friend... but you lose payload capacity. If you decide to go to dually, just step up to the F450.
Yeah, Panther downsizing led to reported weight reduction of as much as 700 pounds, which was no doubt significant, but IMO to compare in proper context, these new BEV vehicles approaching 10,000 pounds should be evaluated in a different light altogether.
For example, I recall video of 1971 head-on crash tests between Ford Pinto and Galaxie, and also Chevy Vega and Impala. Needless to say due to mass disparity it doesn’t end well for much lighter vehicles. Granted newer vehicles are all safer, but laws of physics haven’t changed. An educated guess is that larger Galaxie/Impala were roughly twice as heavy as smaller Pinto/Vega, and now with these 9,000-pound GM behemoth pickups and SUVs, the ratio could easily go to 3:1 or higher. Freedom of choice within reason is a great thing I support, but will admit being a little uncomfortable with vehicles that can be so damaging to others. It’s not only the massive 9,000-plus pounds but also the 750 horsepower, which in wrong hands can have dire consequences.
