The interior looks great as does the new fender badge. Not a fan of the wheels but the center cap is cool and a nice retro touch. Not sure about that grille yet. Maybe it will grow on me.
Do you think before you post? They didn’t save money on GTD - it’s hand built with exotic materials and technology and is faster than a GT. They will also sell every one they make. As for Mustang vs corvette - Mustang GT starts at $46k. Vette starts at $68k. That’s not even close to “damn near”. If you want a vette go get one and stop whining.
If I cared to guess, they did not submit a proposal. I anticipate I would’ve come across that if they had.
I understand your point regarding not losing any civilian production, but I don’t think Michigan Assembly is operating at full capacity and this would basically be a chassis that wouldn’t go through the whole process on the regular production line.
It is just irritating that Ford rarely competes for defense contracts and using a competitor’s product overseas when they could have competed on this one.
Looks like another major tactical mistake in the making- the enemy will spot that cabless monstrosity from miles away and target it, while a dirty Toyota Tacoma or similar pickup fits in anywhere...
Ford gambled that they could save money by substituting a hopped up Mustang for the more expensive to build GT and lost.
As a consumer, coming from a Ford family the Mustang tempts me, but they keep gutting the Ecoboost and the V8 is almost up to 'Vette prices. My family hasn't bought a GM product since 1966, but the Corvette's a damn bargain and I'm having a hard time resisting!
