I'm conflicted, on one hand, I say let him speak even if we don't agree with him, that's how you get some good conversations in life. But in the other hand, I find it annoying debating with people who have their mind made up before they even have a conversation with you.
A new Focus should be one of those products as it should’ve never been cancelled in the first place! It will be interesting what direction they go power wise whether BEV or Hybrid.
Not for early adopters but we’re way past that stage. The rules are the same within the group of potential buyers. Lots of people wanted cybertrucks and lightnings for $40k - but not for $60k+.
You need to actually look at what went into this platform to make it profitable to produce. They basically rethought everything because they knew losing money wasn't sustainable. I believe the target is for these affordable EVs to be profitable within a year of going on sale.
People really need to stop thinking what once was always will be. Just because a company loses money on something for 5 years doesn't mean they won't be turning a profit on it 3 years from now.
Additionally, the likelihood of a 5 billion dollar investment destroying a brand that has like a 45-50 billion dollar valuation is insanely low.
Farley isn't perfect, but I've been pretty adamant that for the most part, he's making decisions that are moving the company in the right direction. Focusing on passion products people actually want instead of generic appliances that compete on price alone and generate no profits or loyalty for the brand. The second another brand comes along with a cheaper vehicle, the people who only care about price with flock to that brand.
What Farley is doing is getting people to fall in love with Ford, and Ford's iconic products, a very smart strategy especially as competition continues to increase. He's also constantly elevating said icons with things like the GTD. On the EV side, he's very transparent on what works and doesn't work, and is willing to adapt plans to make smarter decisions. That's exactly what you want with a leader.
