Sounds like lower production costs are not being passed onto vehicle manufacturers… not unless you make your own batteries like BYD. Also those global average prices include a ton of Chinese produced vehicles which have all kinds of government support, skewing those prices, upshot is non-China production of batteries is a lot more expensive because China controls most refining of battery materials. last year, Farley was on a stream saying that large battery in large ev can be up to $50,000 and at that, Ford is losing money which is whay they are running fast from anything too big. (Maybe vehicles like GM Hummer battery?)

Never stop learning, never be afraid to hit the reset button and start again with a better plan. Ford learning about how to build these new era vehicles is both exciting and scary as hell.

But the price to produce batteries has been falling for years now. https://www.goldmansachs.com/insights/articles/electric-vehicle-battery-prices-are-expected-to-fall-almost-50-percent-by-2025 -

But at the same time, Ford hasn't had any brand new name plates outside of the Bronco and Bronco Sport since then. Both the Maverick and Mach E where white sheet vehicles -
It’s the same movie again, Ford has an unbelievable new thing that will start at $40k, many want to believe it and falls in love with the new best thing, then reality sets in……. then Ford wonders where all the reservations went when the price jumps to $56k…..

Ping. (I'm reluctant to do the 'hard reset' because of fear of losing all my saved settings, historical trailer data, etc.)

It's also kind of crazy that the "design thinking" applied to Maverick and then they just sad "eh, we're good, don't need to do that again!"

It’s called “tough love”. And it usually gets fantastic results.

I understand your perspective, and I’m not disputing that he is trying to take steps to close that gap, but as I’m sure you’re aware, in today’s society there is a large number of the population that won’t read past the headline. Farley regularly uses hyperbolic wording against his own company that hits the headlines, which may have context in the body of the story, but people never see. I’m suggesting he chooses his words more carefully.

It's wild, unless I'm mistaken, Hackett was the one who really gutted Ford's ICE engineering department, there's an argument to be had that his lack of expertise in the auto industry also led to him making decisions that sparked a lot of the quality issues we see today. His design thinking approach that came in handy for the development of the mach-e and maverick was a great addition to the company, but that's basically the only good thing he did imo.
