My guess is it would ride on the mustang chassis to make it feasible from a cost standpoint. I don't necessarily believe it's coming, just speculating on what Ford could be doing behind the scenes. They're trademarking these names and doing design studies for them which implies they're at least entertaining the idea imo.
Farley's comment about "different kind of truck" means something. A Ranchero resurrection would certainly fit that description. If it is Maverick sized but sporty it could attract enormous attention especially if it is Maverick priced (or less).
With Farley saying the TTP truck will be a "different kind of truck" and the Ranchero name being recently resurrected, could the new TTP truck be a small single cab car based truck dubbed as the new Ranchero?
We've been talking about the new CE1 truck getting the Ranchero name but Rancheros were never quad cabs. This type of truck could meet the definition of an all new model and affordable.
They could use the Maverick platform, give it a 6' bed, hybrid versions and add Pro Power Onboard and it could be a home run.
I guess it's possible. I personally doubt the business case for something like that, unless it's perhaps built like the GT on its own line/by Multimatic with a high price tag.
Toyota and BMW had to JV the Supra and Z4 just to make the numbers work.
