FYI - On the Freightliner side, you can get an Allison (29XX model, 9-speed) or the ZF transmission (8-speed) with the Cummins Octane engine. The transmissions are about the same cost, so I suspect most will choose Allison. However, for the same spec, the Octane engine will cost ~ $8,500 **MORE** than the B6.7 diesel this year......so yeah, good luck with that Freightliner. I don't expect many buyers to go for that. That's way out of whack to where it needs to be as most customers will expect the gas motor to be cheaper.

The ad and marketing big shots at Dodge thought the old Charger was a hybrid 😄

Hostility toward hybrids and EVs on that forum should be taken about as seriously as hostility toward Earth ellipsoid on https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=11211.0

There are a number of replies with a lot of likes that point to the contrary (for hybrid). Especially since it would just be optional, and also Ford has pretty reputable hybrid powertrains. I think the only brand that would actually have much to fear from introducing a hybrid on a key vehicle is Dodge. And they spent the 2010’s building a ridiculous cult they now live in fear of. Its a shame too because I think the new Charger would be really cool if it were a hybrid (and made by a manufacturer that wouldn’t charge a $20k premium for that).

Who's at fault now, @787Toolman? -
Maybe that was after the run? No clue what their rules are.

only $3500 discount. Equinox is $8700. Ioniq 5 is $10k. I keep telling you guys price is king regarding sales volume.

Yea, exactly. In addition to the lack of proper sales promotion for the model, MME has been decontented for 2026. It loses the frunk, universal garage door opener, NACS adapter, tire inflator and sealant kit, 360-Degree Camera, Front Parking Sensors, Reverse Brake Assist, and MagneRide dampers (GT) as standard features. The Connected Navigation feature is included for 1 year only on 2026 models; the 2025s included 3 years. I purchased an MME GT for my wife in May 2025 when the big shots at Ford were at least semi-serious about promoting and selling that vehicle. MME sales were up 11% that month YoY.

Maybe, but there is a lot of hostility toward hybrids and EVs on the Bronco6G forum. https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/bronco-hybrid-confirmed-by-ford-ceo-jim-farley-4-2-26.131139/

My interpretation of what he was saying there was that medium/long-term, Ford Blue would be primarily unique passion products and Ford’s commodity products would be on the UEV platform. That is probably altered now since the EREV factor has been introduced, but generally I feel that makes sense. ICE will over the course of the next two decades be a shrinking segment, while EV will be growing. You would be better off not trying to put a lot of investment into high volume lower-margin products in ICE, but would see better returns doing that in EV. The UEV platform also gives Ford a chance to regain sustainable competitiveness in commodity products that they haven’t really had since the great recession. worth mentioning they currently have a Mustang EV and its not working because it is too much like the Mustang - you can’t win on EVs at Mustang volumes and pricing. Bronco EV is a better idea, but lets see how Jeep’s attempt there does.
