Blue Oval Considered Giving Ford Bronco A Fixed Roof "We know that Bronco customers wouldn't trade their removable roof for a quieter cabin, but they also would like a removable roof without the extent of the compromise they're making," Bronco Chief Engineer Ed Krenz told Ford Authority executive editor, Alex Luft, at the Bronco Filson reveal event. "We benchmarked some of the premium SUVs and understood what their capability was on wind noise and how they positioned relative to their customer. So we sort of had a target. We knew the customers wanted something better, quieter. Knowing the goal, the question became, how do we execute it?" The Ford Bronco Filson features acoustic glass, enhanced seals, a softer headliner, and revised seatback materials, which - along with improved airflow, results in 20 percent less perceived wind noise than the regular SUV. The result is the Bronco Filson scores around 23 sones, a barometer of perceived loudness by the human ear. That’s in line with the Land Rover Defender, one of the models - the other being the Toyota Land Cruiser, both of which have fixed roofs - identified by Ford as a key rival to the Bronco Filson, but significantly quieter than the 2021 Bronco, which came in at 30 sones.

Thanks for the advice, akirby. I was a bit anxious about giving up the 8-spd for the CVT. However, hp won the day and I took your advice. You were right. Hybrid is much better. -

Totally agree. I drove a base Ecoboost for about 1,000 miles while I was waiting on mine to arrive. The base is fine but the hybrid is, um, "finer"? Peppier *and* better MPG to boot. win/win -
Yea, exactly. A survey by S&P Global Mobility found: The high purchase price of an electric vehicle is the biggest barrier for potential buyers on a global scale, a recent study from S&P Global Mobility shows. Almost half of all respondents to the survey listed affordability as the main concern when considering a new EV. When it comes to range anxiety, most respondents said they would accept a minimum EV range below 300 miles, while only 29 percent would prefer a minimum range above 300 miles.

S650 is effectively a refresh of S550. So why bother with a second refresh 😄 To Sherminator98's point, there isn't much competition currently for Mustang coupe/vert from other automakers. So it's no surprise the big shots at Ford want to stick with the status quo.

If its say 250-275 and its "cheap" (Under $35K) I don't think people will complain too much. -

Well the 2024 was a new body style, so maybe they'd get a light refresh in 2028 when the sedan comes out? its not like it really has that much competition either...LOL -
This approach would mean the coup/vert would be around for 6 years without a refresh.

Hmmmm..... Most manufacturers, including Tesla, claim that EV customers are unwilling to accept a range of less than 300 miles on a single charge. Asked whether he agreed with this analysis, the answer was a flat "No."

Knock on wood, I haven't had too many issues with mine.
