The next gen is a clean sheet from a body, frame, and electrical architecture stand point. It still looks like an F-150 but will be visually different that you will be able to tell the difference between the new generation and previous generations. Some powertrains will carry over, some will be all-new. Some may not launch in the first year. Still TBD. I don’t know all the reasons it was delayed twice but there were significant learnings from the skunkworks team that were applied for efficiency improvements. I do think it will be worth the wait though. The current truck is still selling exceptionally well and the 2027 updates will keep it looking fresh. -

I hope so as well. I understand why Ford doesn't always want to have massive leaps in terms of engineering and design. But I feel like a lot of us are ready for a bolder leap forward with the next generation of a lot of their icons. -

I think it needs to be to stay class leading. -
You mean direct same body (plus frame and under the skin updates) just with an F-100 badge? That'd be a lazy approach, IMO. Not to mention it'd confuse people.

I forgot the next gen got pushed back twice. Let's hope they take a big step forward design wise, and don't do the warmed over cab approach. It's sounding like it'll be a big jump forward, but you never know until they actually show it...

I'm going with the F-100 being just the Ranger Super Duty... Can look at it a couple different ways- It gives Ford a product that adds to F-series sales number It allows them to completely overmatch anything the Tacoma can do currently It allows the base model F-150s to rise in price It gives more room to the Maverick and CE1/Ranchero to grow in their price segments. -
Gonna be a significantly changed truck if a new engine and the rumored steer by wire and brake by wire materialize.

It’s widespread throughout the industry. I don’t get it. Are designers making some kind of egalitarian political statement by doing that? -

Correct 2029 it is. It was delayed at least twice. It was originally supposed to be a 2027. There is a new 6 in development but that is all I can say.
