Kumar Galhotra has acknowledged that the BEV architecture underpinning the Mach-E will also support Lincoln. Not sure what that means right now...but it's something!2 points

It's really cool when I fill up my F150 and it says 700 miles to empty. Paying the tab isn't quite as cool.2 points

If my wife took it in complaining that it was too loud, I doubt if they would put on a new resonator under warranty. ?1 point

Sorry gentlemen didn't mean to cause a stir. I should have been more specific and stated may void some parts of your warranty.1 point

10 vehicles, 3 brands (Ram, Dodge, Chrysler). And one of those is Journey which I can't believe they're still making. Should have called them all Dodge and been done with it.1 point

Given how poorly the industry predicted the demise of the sedan, I definitely don't trust them to predict the bottom.1 point

As long as they can run 4" exhausts and "roll coal" I don't think they'll care whether it's a Dodge, Ram or Jeep.1 point

So much easier to change the headlights though...peel new sticker...apply to front. I don't know why I like NASCAR so much, but I do.1 point

But that would create all sorts of dealer issues for those who don't sell both brands. E.g. a stand alone Dodge dealer would become a Dodge/Jeep dealer and there might already be a Jeep dealer down the street. Or vice versa although that's probably not a big deal. If they wanted to kill Dodge altogether though that would have been my suggestion too.1 point

Ron, it's a terminology thing. If you say that doing a custom pcm tune voids the warranty then that means the entire warranty is no longer valid. If the radio stops working Ford won't fix it. If the brakes fail Ford won't fix it. That's what voiding the warranty means. The warranty isn't void - that's illegal. But that doesn't mean Ford will pay to repair a part that was damaged by abuse or by improper maintenance. They can refuse to pay for an individual repair - that doesn't "void the warranty".1 point

Not everyone lives in California, and I'd hope they buy more cars then people from Iowa with their population density vs Iowa ? What it boils down to is EV's in their current form are only a 75% solution with the vast majority of car buyers-with Range and recharge speed being the biggest issues. In my situation, outside of taking a trip out say Ohio, and BEV would work perfectly fine for what I need a car for.1 point

Ah, so it's roughly the same power figures from the current 3.5EB. That works for me - Platinum has an increase in power over lower trims, but ST still gets the top performance setup.1 point
-
But that 300-350 mile range doesn't do any good if there's nowhere to "charge up" once you get there. There are gas stations on every corner and every town. Smaller towns/cities may not have chargers. I'm assuming that program is in bigger cities, though. I doubt random small city, USA far away from big cities will have this.1 point

Ram and Jeep sales have surged under Italian ownership. I don't think any future German ownership would be detrimental to Ford.1 point
-
The average range for a gas powered vehicle is about 300-350 miles-if an EV can hit that or do better then that, that won't be as much of an issue. But I get what your saying...1 point

Welcome to Jurassic Park. As great as the profile looks, I’m not a fan of the front or rear. Those taillights... the integration of reverse and turn signal seems like an after thought.1 point

Here is the reason why EV's will not "take over" nationwide....say you are cruising along in your brand new EV in rural "resume speed" Iowa...not a charging station for miles and miles and for whatever reason, you didn't get enough charge last time you were plugged in and you run out of "zap"....in an ICE powered vehicle, you could hike on down the road for a can of gasoline, hike on back, pour it in and off you go...what would you do with that EV....you just cannot run out and get a can of electricity and pour it in.... EV's will work great in urban areas, it is the rural areas that are the issue....and in the the good ole US of A, there are a LOT of rural areas to contend with...1 point

I tend to agree with his outlook on EVs but not on cars, I think the bottom is far lower than they expect. Toyota is more dependent on cars however so it makes some sense that they would still see volume there. Certain cars have a stronger loyalty base however, especially Camry and Corolla, but that's not something other carmakers have. Just be glad Ford's loyalty is tied to far more profitable vehicles.1 point

Absolutely 100%, This is why Ford defers to the aftermarket so much instead of more factory performance versions of Mustang. The aftermarket stands ready to fill all those customizer wants and needs, so much is catered for, whether off the shelf for the DIY or made to order...the sky is the limit.:1 point

Aviator is pricey, I'd have a hard time seeing that as a sales leader unless it turns into a phenomenon, but the 3-Row luxury segment isn't THAT big. Corsair and Nautilus will probably remain their sales leader, but Nautilus will likely be their most popular model for the foreseeable future. It's the sweet spot for volume and they certainly made it look quite fresh with a name change and all. As far as new product, we really have 3 new utilities this year, that's as busy as it will ever get in a year at Lincoln. And it's very likely XT6 will make it very hard for Aviator to compete....nah I'm just kidding. Speaking of Corsair, I'm hearing that the HEV for Escape will be delayed 6 months so I assume that will effect Corsair. That either means we'll get separate announcements for different model years, or they'll just be "Late Availability".1 point

You mean the 3 sedans that they are most likely turning into 1 after investing a few billion in them?1 point
-
There is definite Cadillac style; attractive if you think it is. Cadillac definitely has high performance available; cool if you think it is. But, I was always suspicious of GM's effort to turn Cadillac into BMW/Audi/Mercedes. I think they overestimated the American people. People only said they wanted a high performance sedan as justification to purchase a slightly nicer Bimmer or Merc than their neighbor had, because, seriously, they were never really going to take it to the track anyway. Has anyone honestly ever seen a Cadillac "tracked" on a road course? Worse, I am reluctantly consigning myself to the unavoidable truth that sedans (even really fast Cadillac sedans) don't sell and the future looks like a box on stilts.1 point
-
I think Aviator is the Canary in the mineshaft. If they're able to make money on it they'll keep going. If not they might pull the plug. And they don't need big volume to do it - they just need a reasonable number of buyers willing to pay full price or close to it.1 point
-
It will sell ok but I don’t think it will do well unless they put some serious cash on the hood. To me this screams MKT.1 point

I bet those 1000 employees will pay far more in property, sales and income tax than they lose in tax incentives for VW.1 point

...and lets not forget to thank all those Tennessee Taxpayers who's elected officials used their tax collections to bribe errr, I mean, convince VW into building the plant there.1 point

I don't know what to make of that, but GM was not interested in clearing this up when it was announced which seems...odd.1 point

They got bad press for cancelling the super sedan after they spent so much designing it, and now they're getting some pretty bad vibes so far about the XT6. I think they want to save face a bit by ignoring the CT6 isn't selling. This is a little like, "I meant to do that"...1 point
-
So ? That just means that anyone involved has been retired for some time now ! Look at some of the purchases Big Jim Hackett has done lately. Do they remind you of Jacques Nasser ?1 point

Well, here we go with another model getting rid of the shifter and getting a rotary/dial. I guess we'll have to prepare for the other Mustang models getting a rotary/dial shifter at some point.0 points
