  1. I know they don't seem to be focusing on quality these days, but this is HORRID. Look at that wavy rear quarter panel window and sheetmetal. Exposed bolts holding panels on. GOODNESS. How Ford has gone downhill...... Lol. I wonder how many will fall for that. Guess we're seeing out Fusion successor here, and pretty much seems to be what we expected - a Ford Outback. I still question how big of a market there is for this type of vehicle (Subaru buyers are a different breed). But if they feel there's a market for them - and one where they can make more than a traditional sedan body style - then I hope it works!

  2. AOC (and her supporters) nuked some jobs Amazon wanted to offer up. She claimed to study economics but employed as a bartender...............what could go wrong. There are no moderate democrats in this race, period.

  3. It also helps open up the pricing on the bottom too..the Escape Ti is about 5K cheaper then the Edge...so Ford can fit more affordable products under it

  5. This is definitely the Fusion Active test mule. Next gen Fusion was always planned to move to C2. I don’t know the product development code for this one. But I have seen the mock up early buck. It’s very attractive and is a mix of Fusion, Edge, Escape and Subaru Outback all mixed together. It’s rugged like an Outback but in a classy way. It blends a number of designs well. Make no mistake this will be called Fusion or Fusion Active. I’m not sure how big the market is for this but maybe Subaru’s secret sauce isn’t so secret. Ford needs to market this the right way in order for it to succeed. ive heard either Hermosillo or Oakville as production locations. Not finalized yet.

  6. When I was making jumps out of a plane I always enjoyed being 1st. Pattern bargaining it sucks being 1st. I do not have any faith in the IUAW staff because they have demonstrated zero integrity by their own actions. Respect and union dues use to be something you earned.

  7. comedy...we had a gentleman come in specifically to try the self parking feature, salesman took it for granted he knew he had to control the brakes...he didn't....3 cars were damaged on the lot. And he refused to accept responsibility. The new/ latest version brakes for you...all you are in charge of is forward and reverse,

  8. Deaf, congratulations to you and your wife. I also have the Thoroughbred theme in my Nautilus and love it. It got something right that a lot of interiors miss. A great seat color is nice, but when you are in your car you don't see them as you're sitting on them. But with Thoroughbred you see that sweep of rich brown leather oozing across the dash and down the center arm rest. Very striking with the black interior accents and headliner. As for the engine, my final cross shop was the 2.7 Nautilus and Range Rover Velar with the same 3.0 supercharged engine your wife would have had in her F-Pace. They mirror each other. The F-Pace engine has 380hp/340 torque. The Nautilus has 340 hp/380 torque. I really like the torquiness of the Nautilus' twin turbo and have never experienced any turbo lag. The odd thing about that JLR 3.0 is that it was originally designed as a V8 (by Ford!) and in the F-Pace/Velar it still has all eight bores, but with two cylinders never built out. Adds a little unnecessary weight, but otherwise just an oddity that struck me. It is still a fine engine.

  9. Yes, but we already knew that! The question was setup time though.

  10. They wanted to but Terry Dittes pushed HARD for GM to go first. Seems this was his plan all along.

  11. Sounds like they cut a few corners on the interior but it's probably not as bad as the reviews and people named Perez make it out to be. I think they went upscale on the Telluride because they don't have a premium stable mate like Aviator. It will be more interesting to see the comparisons to the others in the class. I'd also like to see the price comparisons to the others to see if Kia is lowballing Telluride. If Explorer Platinum and Limited are significantly higher than the competition then that might be a problem. Seems like a gamble. Maybe it pays off. The most concerning thing to me (other than the high trim pricing) is the complaints about ride and handling. CD6 should be providing better handling than the FWD competition and they should have good ride quality to go with it. If you're going to charge a premium you better have premium ride and handling.

  12. Well to be fair they are on completely different architectures. Atlas is MQB and Q7 is MLB.

  13. https://www.motortrend.com/cars/kia/telluride/2020/2020-ford-explorer-vs-2020-kia-telluride-three-row-suv-comparison/ Has the explorer won any comparison tests? I dnt think this is biased as motortrend also compared the aviator to the xt6 and said it was a bad comparo, the xt6 wasnt nearly good enough. The pricing strategy that ford has is unfortunatley wrong. They are using the premium euro brand strat, hike up the prices over their Asian competitors, thrn charge the consumer for their std features. Then add more "pamper" features that they dnt offer, but offer less user friendly tech features like 3rd row speakers, to justify the 10k premium. Theres a cpl big issues, though the starting price seems competitive, when you add the features that thr bulk of the consumers want, it drives the price to the next trim level, which starts a cycle where you inevitably pay way more than you wanted to get the stuff you wanted in the ford where it was 5k or so less in the competitor. Then, after you get that car for so much more, you realize that you were charged a premium, but the build quality and subsequent service doesnt match the premium. Thats fords biggest problem, their cars dont feel the price. Its easier with the pickups and expy/navi twins because the product stands on it own with less competitors(who use the same strat nonetheless), but the mid size crossover game a completely diff animal. I think this is why euros only offer premium choices. Vw can get away with the atlas because the q7 exists. Just my 2 cents.

  15. Well, hold on for a second. The portion of the original offer that was made public by GM was nothing to get excited about. What are we to believe now? That the IUAW is playing "hardball" ,because it forced the membership out on strike?ONLY IF,the final offer is better than what GM originally published. In the background of all this {as if we dont have enough stress} is the indictment of the top IUAW officials by the FBI and by the way,the FBI always has EVIDENCE in it`s corner before it acts.Strike for what?2% lump sum or wage increase for the next 4 years?$8,000 signing bonus, plus, lets add a little ,say $500,just to keep the bozo`s happy?A clear path towards permanent employment for the temps?Got news for ya,,,,the temps are valuable because they are trained/experienced and have proven themselves reliable.Auto factory jobs require more than just being a "dummy" besides what the media and union bashers say.A $10,000 signing bonus for all along with 2% wage increases PLUS 3% bonuses in alternating years along with a clear path for temps to be hired permanent along with NO change to health benefits. All that and maybe I will drop my insistence that Mary Barra swing around a pole to the tune 'Funky Town',down at the union hall.

  16. While ordering our 2020 Nautilus yesterday, I couldn't help myself to sit in the Aviator once again and take it all in. The Black Label one right outside the salesguy door had the Chalet theme. I don't even like white interiors nor white really anywhere inside a car and yet it was so awesome and so impressive that I couldn't help wish I could get ANY of the Aviator themes (even white!) and look in the Nautilus. It's just so nice and so refreshingly different. While we love the Thoroughbred theme we're getting in the Nautilus, I really applaud the interior design efforts of the Aviator it's awesome. I consider myself lucky that they DIDN'T have one in the Destination theme or else our heads would have exploded ? and knowing my wife she would have wanted to go into more debt and get the bigger Aviator even though she doesn't want a car that big!

  19. Yeah flying there was definitely an option within 1000 miles, IF my lovely wife deemed the Nautilus could compare to the FPace-S, and we could find a built one to her liking! And so as mentioned yesterday, we went to the local (thank goodness I'm that lucky to live close to one) and the wife drove a 2.7 BL Nautilus! So this whole time she's been really on the fence because she loves her Jag, and the look and power. Even though she's actually looked and sat in the BL she still has been on the fence. Trying to get her to test drive the Nautilus has been like pulling teeth! But I finally got her to do that. And here's the result - she came back with a big crap eating grin and 2 thumbs up!!! She was really impressed. The power: She is used to the biggest engine FPace and although there was a hair of turbo lag, she was totally happy with the power and acceration - and that's in Comfort mode, not sport mode! The ride : Totally blows away the FPace in ride quality but of course it's designed to be a supple ride so I understand that the FPace is designed to be more of a sports car and has to suffer with the stiffer ride to satisfy corner diving speed freaks. My wife thinks she drives like that but she doesn't. She was very impressed how it drove overall. Soaking up bumps: Totally killer ride for dealing with road imperfections. This is really amazing because unless my lovely wife gave me 2 thumbs up, I would find it super hard to believe that a 21" wheel could give a great ride... Kudos to Lincoln. Interior material quality: Well that's a given, the Thoroughbred theme tickles both our fancies and the leather quality is awesome and even more so the seats, of which she claimed were incredible and blow away the FPace seats, even though the Jag seats aren't bad by any means. Stereo: well it's going to be obvious that the Ultima version is going to rock and will silence FOREVER her complaining about the car audio. I will win big on that. Door look: Way nice, mainly because the leather is so good. I like the Aviator door better but she won't go down that bigger car road. Tech: She will enjoy the 360* camera and suspect it will be something she can't live without in the future. I'm not sure if she'll ever use the Park Assist, or even the ACC but I know it adds to resale value. I will say that I only gave this whole deal about a 50% chance and a weak one at that. But after test driving it she totally threw in towel and is onboard to get a BL Nautilus. She won't even consider the Corsair now (we still haven't seen one) solely for the fact that it does not have a BL tier model... yeah she's spoiled alright. So today we're going down to order one and have decided to build one and wait, and get get exactly what she wants. We'll save some money and not get the tow package. I think we're going with just about everything else and going either Burgundy or White. I'm excited for the wife, I like seeing her happy and I might even get to drive it here and there...? I'd like an opinion, what do the masses think of roof rails? Hit or miss? Adds a good look or takes away from the sleekness? What color makes the most sense for resale - Burgundy or Tri-coat White? Thanks

  20. Autonomous driving is another area where there is a ton more UX (User Experience) benefits besides surrendering the car to the computer. A good example is Lane Centering tech on the newest Fords. I have it on my Nautilus and the benefit is more relaxed and effortless driving. It's clear to me that I'm still in control and the car is just helping me along so I don't have to stay as tense while driving. It also encourages more relaxed and consistent driving, especially with Adaptive Cruise thrown in. So I think there will be lots of benefits of Autonomous tech to improve safety and comfort, but it probably won't be driving you from A to B anytime soon. And even if it could, people don't have to use it but can benefit from the ways it can make driving more pleasant. It's one of those things you have to experience, because if you explain it you can't really illustrate the real nuance of driving with these systems. At first you think it works like crap because it's not taking over all steering effort. The engineers have done a good job keeping the driver from being too disengaged but just enough to help them along. It works best when you don't know it's there, but you miss it when it's not. Still, there is allot of room for improvement but I don't feel confused by the capabilities of the systems on the Fords.

  22. I believe there was an issue with the 10AT calibration which is why they want wit manual trans but let's face it most Aussie buyers of this car wanted manuals anyway. I recon that they will eventually offer an auto once they get the mini production line sorted and money coming in. I could see UK doing the same if interest is strong enough, maybe some LHDs as well for Europe? I also floated the idea of a run of Cobras next as they're just striped white cars.... One of the gripes here is that we couldn't get PP2 because track increase needs to be approved to ADRs (Australia Design rules) and Ford wasn't interested in re-submitting paperwork, I'm hoping that this car and approvals now cover that oversight. Just as a heads up, the converted Camaro ZL1 is AUS $150K, while the R-Spec Mustang is just under $100K both have full manufacturer warranty.

  23. Don't forget the millions spent in lawsuits against franchise laws in an attempt to force state governments (with varying degrees of success) to allow their stores to operate. Probably not the wisest use of that money.

  24. high hopes for sure...just to quieten the Tesla cultists.....but jurys out until we actually get our hands on the product to see if it lives up to comparison...I just hope they have a normal dash board, the trend of huge tablets is just an invitation for distracted driving... ESPECIALLY if it supplies ALL information and requires eyes to go from anything but straight ahead..

  26. I was considering the Aviator, but my dealer got a loaded Chalet Black Label Nautilus right when I was eligible for a new lease so I grabbed it and never looked back. It's still the right vehicle for me in-terms of size and pricing so I'm just going to stick with it.

  27. We have a '17 MKX and it really is an ideal size vehicle. Nimble handling and seats 4 in comfort with room for luggage. I rented a 2018 Explorer and it felt like a bus compared to the MKX.
