All these renders are nailing individual elements, but completely losing scale and interaction. I don't envision too much protesting around here come May... or sooner.4 points

I’ve got just over 34,000 miles on my 2018 Mustang Ecoboost (10 spd auto). Over the life of the vehicle, I’m averaging 25.3 mpg. I have the Performance Package so its EPA rating is 20 city, 29 highway, and 23 combined. I’m pretty satisfied.2 points

My wife is getting 17.9 mpg in her ‘20 explorer with the 2.3L. It’s rated at 21 city, 28 highway, 24 combined. We’ve only ever owned ford’s and we never get close to the mpg.2 points

Yep. My grandfather (from Saginaw, Michigan) used to say "we must be in South Dakota, the wind just picked up" whenever he came out to visit us. Of course we explain it thus: It's always windy here because Minnesota sucks & Wyoming blows.2 points

Bronco is going to be a different mix of features and priorities to the Wrangler, it is after all a Bronco, not a Wrangler copy.1 point

Nope, more like Everest ~112" for four door. It gives it a noticeably different look to Wrangler1 point

Just wait until they get to the local levels. Selling jobs, forcing donations, making people take pictures of their ballots to prove who they voted for. Local 900 should be the first investigated. The two Bills are screwed1 point

All these issues and you're going to buy the same vehicle made in the same factory? Related, it's a shame Ford won't get the employees (or more likely management) in line at Chicago. These products are too important for this kind of utter nonsense.1 point

We have a couple 6.2's in our landscaping fleet. While they have been as reliable or more so than the older v10s we had, they are absolutely gutless down low. Even the old 6.4 psd will walk away from it with a heavy load. Hell, my 7.3psd will walk away from it (not stock). You can definitely tell when there's a load behind the 6.2 and we're almost at sea level here. I wouldn't want to venture into the mountains with 12-13k on a 6.2.1 point

It failed because they decided to run an open block design with the WRONG type of stress relief between the cylinders. They have switched from the cut grove to drilled because the cut was taking up space they needed for headgasket sealing and causing the gasket to be stressed. The replacement blocks all are coming with the cross drill now. I'm gonna guess they went with that across all lines now, not just the 1.5. But Ford is the king of one hand not knowing what the other is doing.1 point

"I always put the concerns of the hard working men and woman of the United Auto Workers, first. Now get back to work, dont give any supervisor any of 'yo shit' in response to his shit and always, always remember,,be lucky you got any job at all. You want better treatment? You want equal enforcement of the contract? Then do what I tell everybody else I represent to do,,,,,kiss ass and make a deal.It aint so bad if you carry a bottle of mouthwash with ya" Fat Cat. Kidding aside I would be glad if all the cliques that sold everybody else out, to get a deal ,were broken up and all new people were given a chance to run the UAW.1 point

I guess it was just a matter of time before the Feds got around to investigating UAW/Ford.Innocent until proven guilty so lets wait and see.All these bribes and kick-backs involving vendors for trinkets and SWAG? I have not been given a jacket or even a pen in a decade! WTF? The greedy union 'fat cats' kept it all! Aint dat a bitch! here I like this one.1 point

Depends on what highway you're on. My work commute is all 45-50 mph. You don't get above that unless you're on an interstate or some backroads are 55. But now you know why folks are unable to match the EPA ratings - almost nobody drives like the EPA cycle.1 point
-
thanks for the info. I’m kind of shocked at how low those speeds are. Half the test(Hwfet) was under 50 mph on the highway. Who drives that slow? If you are driving like that on a highway around here, you are just asking for trouble lol.1 point

It's gotten to the point that if you have the option to stop paying dues, you probably should until the rank and file have more of a voice to pick international reps.1 point

Thank you for the clarification. We can re-visit this conversation in 2022, after the "much better" 2020's have some time & mileage on them. HRG1 point

That would seem to make a lot of sense. Should be more powerful than the 1.5 I3 with much better NVH. No reason that fuel economy couldn’t be at least as good as the Toyota 2.5 I-4.1 point

driving style weather fuel, I get 2 mpg less on 10% ethanol than with premium.1 point
-
There are SO many factors for real world fuel numbers vs EPA estimates. Most people will only put the cheapest fuel in that they can get. That means that the octane level is usually low and it has Ethanol in it. Remember most estimates are done with good gas of appropriate octane. Ecoboost and Hybrids are affected the worst by fuel choices.1 point

Ford has the solution in the 2.5 engine that is the base motor in the current Fusion and LG Escape. It’s still a great engine even though it has not been updated since it was introduced in the 2010 Fusion and Escape. It seems crazy that Ford doesn’t upgrade it as it should be capable of 200 hp and significantly improved mileage. It would be a great base motor for the Escape, Baby Bronco, and NG Fusion (whatever that turns out to be).1 point

Because I travel quite a bit during the summer, including crossing multiple states, and I wanted the ease of towing with the diesel. I have taken my fiver to the mountains (see my previous post about the exhaust brake) and likely will again this year. Oh, and the 6.2L would definitely know it's back there. Try pulling a 13'+ tall 13k fifth wheel west across South Dakota with a 20+ MPH headwind. Yeah, the 6.2L will know it's back there. My PowerStroke got about 7 MPG's on that stretch...I can only imagine what the 6.2L would have gotten. Because 'Merica! Because my wife said I could! And if that isn't good enough for you, because I wanted to, dammit! It's my money and I'll spend it how I want!1 point

I have bought Fords and Lincolns from the same dealership and from the same salesperson and sales manager for many years. I do not expect to be treated differently when I buy a Ford vs. when I buy a Lincoln. I expect top notch treatment either way and I have always gotten it. I don't quite understand why buying a Ford, whether it is a $80,000 F150 King Ranch or a $35,000 Escape should be an inferior experience compared to buying a Lincoln. Before Ford sold Jaguar, I considered an XJ and visited a stand-alone Jag dealer. The sales rep was knowledgeable and the store was nice but I can't say the overall experience was much different than dealing on a Ford. I had a similar experience when looking at Volvos at their stand-alone dealership. Bottom line for me is that the people make the difference. I do not expect a salesperson to have all the answers but I expect decent product knowledge and 100% honesty. I expect to be treated as a valued and respected customer. If those things are missing, the quality of the customer lounge or how fresh their snacks are doesn't mean a thing to me.1 point

Once again, I'll say it louder for those in the back.... A V6 won't fit between the fenders and still be able to drop the body over it on the assembly line1 point
