It will probably slow production down in many different markets yeah, but not too bad. I'm happy to see people standing up against this covid mandate crap. Canadians are a lot more strict on their mandates than we are here in the southern US. I'm just so ready for this covid crap to go away!5 points

Same here. Truck is supposed to be built this week. Dealer said it was being built last week. I am worse than my kids around Christmas time. This is nuts! Lol4 points

Man I gotta great huge surprise today. I ordered my F 350 6.7 Tremor Ultimate Lariat pkg, on Jan 10 and today exactly one month later received a production date of March 28th and my VIN. The Ford online tracker is pretty cool. It’s been a really great day. I have to say so far my dealership has taken excellent care of me. ????3 points

While no specific mention of the 7.3L in the article, I just read this: "... This blockade is also causing problems for Ford engine production, as its Windsor-based facilities are idle today, though Unifor Local 200 President John D’Agnolo told Automotive News that the plants will be back up on Thursday. ..." here: https://fordauthority.com/2022/02/ford-engine-production-impacted-by-ambassador-bridge-blockade/2 points

The 7.3L gasser is manufactured in Windsor, Ontario so there is certainly the possibility for some disruptions there the longer this goes on. May already be affected, IDK. Freedom is not without its costs.2 points

What will dictate the future of EV's will be market forces...if it is viable, it will sell.2 points
-
Bottom line the customer is going to buy what they want. At the end of the day no politician or company is going to dictate what folks are going to drive. If they do, they will pay in the marketplace and at the ballot box. EVs are being pushed by the Greenies and a bunch of clueless politicians who care neither about the environment nor know the workings of the auto industry. EVs will have a place, mind you, as locally dispatched commercial/delivery vehicles and daily drivers all of which can be charged in one's garage or place of business. The brick wall that these "all electric" dreams will hit is not enough charging stations and not enough electricity to power them.2 points

That seems to be the Ford strategy going forward. About 60% hybrids/plugins, and maybe 40% BEVs by 2030 or so. And then take it from there as the feedback/sales numbers come in. Toyota is certainly using that strategy. Foolish IMO to go head first into only BEVs like GM.2 points
-
A lot of that is proprietary but it’s common knowledge that after the body is assembled it’s dipped in anti corrosion liquid then painted by robots. I think it’s heat dried but not 100% sure. The extra cost paints are usually a 3 step process with an extra mid coat but it’s also possible some paint formulas are just more expensive.2 points
-
No....market forces will tip in favor of BEV when the ability to charge a vehicle in under 10 minutes (solid state batteries, level 3 charging infrastructure) become a reality and the norm. BEV is already comparable to ICE when you look at them side be side per vehicle from a cost perspective (Mustang Mach E vs Edge is one example). The infrastructure and technology is not quite there yet to displace ICE...example, I can fuel up a Ford Edge quicker and more easily than I can charge up a Mach E. It's almost there...but not yet. Same example can be made for a Nissan Versa compared to a Nissan Leaf.1 point

I'm going to catch hell for this on this forum but I ended up getting the 7.3L Godzilla. I ordered a F350 SRW CCLB 7.3L 4.30. I originally was going to get a DRW with the 6.7L but my wife said she had to drive the thing around time when I'm not around so going to SRW it didn't make sense to keep the DRW - and with the towing capacity between the 6.7L and the 7.3L with a SRW being so close (I think it's like 5,000lbs more on the bumper tow for the diesel but only 1,000Lbs on the 5th wheel/gooseneck) I bite the bullet and did the Godzilla engine. For our purposes too, we're mostly going to be bumper pulling toys <15,000lbs and if we did get a 5th wheel, most of the ones we look at are <20,000lbs. Thanks to ice-capades uploading the order guides I managed to figure out how to spec the truck to get the maximum GVWR of 11,900 (anything higher you have to get the 6.7L engine). Fingers crossed I should get close to 4,000lbs of payload with the trim level I've picked which is really what I was after. The tongue weight of the trailer + wife's motorcycle was going to be hefty. The other thing that tipped it to the 7.3L was a gas motorhome we had. We had a Class A with the new F-53 chassis and the Godzilla engine and the thing was a best in the hills/mountains.1 point

Been years since I've gone through a car wash. Just a note, unless you're obsessive with using two buckets and dirt trap, even hand washing will cause swirls. We're in FL right now and I've taken through the car wash twice, and in general you don't get the same level of dirt on vehicles we see in MI. So far, it's swirl free, but after the 2nd car wash, I was able to get a coat of wax on the truck.1 point

The factory ones and the aftermarket have a medium density foam with adhesive on both sides. There is no kind of rubber or silicone sealant Under The Lights. Both OEM and the aftermarket have a rubber washer that goes under the screw head when you put it through the light.1 point

I think the numbers are going to be switched around 60% BEVs and 40% PHEV1 point

The pin is absolutely not required until you take delivery - there is nowhere to even submit it until then. But some dealers may want it up front to ensure you actually can get it when needed.1 point

I did what @ice-capades recommended and sent an email to the SM and GM canceling the order. I received confirmation from the sales manager that he would cancel it. Whether they actually do is another story. Thanks ice for the advice!1 point

Sure but he's also not going to completely abandon ICE customers tomorrow, especially for core products.1 point

Saw these on Facebook. The post said it comes with factory snorkel, warm winch, trim exclusive grille color, badges, and decals, squared wheel arches, raised vents on axles, trans, and transfer case, green interior accents with marine grade vinyl seats, desert sand exclusive paint, along with eruption green, Area 51, shadow black and cactus gray, with a $54,495 price.1 point

I don't get the gnashing of teeth over the use of the Blazer name. There won't be a two door fullsize SUV hitting the market anytime soon. I'd rather have the name being used than not.1 point

Thats exactly why I won't be doing any exhaust on my new truck. I put a cat back set on my 150 after only 2,000 miles... 100K + more and the last 55k at almost all highway speeds (85 is the new 55), I can't stand it anymore. I love the rumble and rich sound, but given that bluetooth phone calls are almost impossible to hear, I'm going to take some time to enjoy the peace and quiet ?. I will miss stomping the gas and hearing the roar and will probably be jealous every time I hear one go by.1 point

I will say with absolute certainty that Ford will build what the EPA and CARB will allow and the customer will buy. If BEV's really take off Farley will dump ICE vehicles as quickly as he can. See where we are in 5 years.1 point
-
Some states will charge fees based on the payload capacity, which is why lower values are available to derate the truck. In MI, it's based on vehicle value. I made sure to transfer the plate from the F150, which I just happened to renew 2 weeks before picking up the SD. I'll cry next November1 point

What difference does it make whether it’s closed or running a reduced schedule? Delays will occur.1 point

Ford Customer will tell you what ever you want to hear the day you call and the following week it will be another person with a different answer not really surprise after seing how they prioritise scheduling no.1 point

Having buyers register and order through the website makes it far more difficult for dealers to fake orders and Ford would know if a buyer cancels their order. If they cancel after it’s been built then that unit just goes to the dealer’s normal allocation so Ford wouldn’t care. A small deposit would also help weed out fake orders.1 point

First Ford MEB is the B-segment CUV about the same size as Puma which will be sold only in Europe (may or may not be marketed as Puma because the ICE Puma will continue). Ford previously said Corsair (and by extension, Escape) will also use MEB and it will be made in Oakville. But not much update on that front. I take that to mean that anything that will also be produced in Europe (e.g. Kuga/Escape) will be on MEB. But anything that will only be produced in US and China and not in Europe (e.g. Mach E, Explorer) will be on GE2. The VW-Ford tie up is definitely two-way. VW is getting replacement for Amarok and Transporter out of it. It's possible that VW will sell a lot more Ford based truck and van than Ford will sell VW based EV. At least in the short to mid term. Long term, hard to say... Ford may not be using MEB beyond one generation of product.1 point

Vehicles built prior to the "Okay to Buy" status being achieved (after 5 days of production with zero defects) are parked at the plant and other storage lots as necessary. Once the "Okay to Buy" is achieved, which includes the initial shipping release, vehicles produced are released for immediate shipment. Vehicles parked at the plant or in storage are inspected and/or repaired as necessary to meet the required production/quality standard and then are released for shipping. As such, depending on how many vehicles were produced and stored prior to the "Okay to Buy", it can take some time before the backlog of vehicles is cleared and those vehicles shipped to dealerships. It's a major part of why initial order scheduling is restricted to Dealer stock orders. Retail orders normally don't start getting scheduled until after the "Okay to Buy" status is achieved.1 point
