jpd80
Anyone know Job 1 date for 20i8 Expedition, are we within six months? Edited September 15, 2016 by jpd80
fuzzymoomoo
In addition to an aluminum Expedition in 2017, Ford is poised to introduce four all-new SUVs in order to capitalize on the segments current hotness. No details are available yet on where these will be positioned in the company's lineup or if they will be arriving in the US. Bronco, Ecosport, ???, ??? jasonj80
bronco 2 door, bronco 4 door, ecosport and Aviator.
tbone
Some insight on the release date of this vehicle would be great, as I might hold off on buying a GMC, which I'm reluctant to do.
jasonj80
It might be shown in two weeks at the Texas State fair, but probably at Chicago with launching summer 2017.

jasonj80
Doubt Expedition would be a Detroit launch, to high profile of a show for it. Navigator however I could see.
ANTAUS
Maybe Chicago show?
silvrsvt
bronco 2 door, bronco 4 door, ecosport and Aviator. That would be a really interesting thing to do since no other 2 door (I don't consider the Wrangler a SUV) type vehicle has launched like this since the new FJ came out. Didn't the FJ have rear suicide doors, technically making it a 4 door? IF Ford does a 2 door, I expect the suicide doors there too.

Yes your right about that...I forgot about that..then again I haven't seen one in ages either...they sold well the first two years then took a nose dive. Guess gas prices and the economy didn't help either.

I think this is the one segment where you might be able to get away with it - especially at the beginning when long-lost Bronco fans come out to buy one. theoldwizard
Anyone know Job 1 date for 20i8 Expedition, are we within six months? Just speculation, but I would not expect Job #1 for the 2018 Expedition to be until 4Q17.
BORG
The Expedition is at least a year from hitting lots and I imagine the debut will be at a major Autoshow before Detroit. All major production debuts for Lincoln have been in Detroit.
tbone
I sure hope the new Bronco follows the Wrangler form factor in some form, because if you can't remove the top, it will not be a vehicle I will be interested in buying.

How does that make sense? For something that has been handily outsold by the competition for more than a decade you would be stupid to not give it the highest profile reveal you can. akirby
I think it depends on what else is being shown.
fuzzymoomoo
Wanting to bring more attention to the Lincoln version (Navigator in this case) I presume? Texas state fair is more likely then. Don't bury it somewhere like Chicago that nobody pays any attention to.
tbone
If they want to get this thing on sale sooner rather than later, it would make sense to show it at the Texas State Fair.

OH I was only saying a potential reason why Expedition wouldn't be shown at Detroit....I assume they'll be shown separately to further avoid comparison between the two. It's not a world car and will not create buzz, Detroit is a media show, you bring your A+ game to it with icons and breakthroughs or are regulated to the back page or worse don't even get a mention. It is why manufactures that don't have big reveals skip the show. The Expedition short of being a diesel hybrid that gets 50mpg will not create that. RichardJensen
Also, given the different manufacturing footprints, the Expedition/Nav is unlikely to be as important to Ford as the GM SUVs are. I don't think Ford is aiming to outsell the GM SUVs anytime soon.
