Genesis Came Surprisingly Close to Building an Electric Pickup - Autoblog
Genesis previously acknowledged it had explored a pickup truck for the U.S. market, but details were limited. Newly published images from Auto&Design magazine confirm the project advanced far beyond internal discussion. The luxury brand produced sketches and a full-scale design model, proving the pickup was a legitimate development program before it was shelved.
The complaint about the GM full-size trucks was that the frame went around the tank...as opposed to the tank being placed behind the frame. Which, in some respects, echoed the complaints about the X-frame used by some GM divisions in the late 1950s and 1960s. There was no protection in side impacts.
As for the Pinto - the Japanese cars of the era weren't terribly robust when it came to body strength, and their rust resistance was only two steps above that of the Vega. The VW Beetle had its own safety issues, and the less said about the Chevrolet Vega, the better.
This is why people on this forum find it difficult to take you seriously. China completely broke the trade agreement made with the USA during the first Trump administration. If you don't think China is a bully, then you have not followed their actions in the South China Sea.
China also has a long history of invading other countries:

He wanted more help to secure the border and keep fentanyl out of the US. Mexico and Canada refused. It's the only leverage the US has against other countries.
I don't like some of what he does but he is a master of negotiation.
When towing an 8-10k pound RV with large frontal area at highway/interstate speeds, the Lightning's range is very limited. Not far from what Akirby said. It does better with boats and lighter trailers. An ICE F-150 does fine with the large RV especially when equipped with the larger gas tanks.
In cab fuel tanks in trucks were actually quite safe, that location is well protected in most any collision and the only hazard is if the truck rolls on its side and the filler cab is knocked off. GM's truck side mounted fuel tanks were the subject of much debate but ultimately were not proven to be of any significant hazard (the NBC Dateline story on the subject was proved to feature a rigged test). In any event the GM trucks met all applicable safety standards when they were produced, as did the Pinto. The question is does that limit the manufacturer's liability? Often it does not.
The Pinto was a piece of junk. The 2.0 and 2.3 were great engines, but the rest of the car was built as light and cheap as possible. I saw many instances were they folded up badly in collisions.
I don't see the Chinese threatening to invade Canada and make it the 51st Province. I also can't remember the last time China attacked another sovereign nation.
I also don't see China imposing punitive tariffs on Canada after negotiating a Free trade agreement.
Nor China, breaking existing agreements with "friendly nations" and long-time allies.
From a Canadian POV, China is less of a threat than the US.
This isn't about Europe, Japan or china
The US, Mexico, and Canada had a new Free Trade Agreement (USMCA).
READ THE AGREEMENT (USMCA)
The US Adminstration unilatterally Imposed PUNATIVE Tarriffs on Canada and Mexico.
The Canadians, as any reasonable person would do, saw the US attacking them economically and threatening to attack them militarily.
This is bullying.
