Because it has the potential to significantly cut costs thereby increasing profit margins. I think they're already applying ce1 learnings to the next f150 and superduty.

I believe there's a way to do an edge style vehicle in a way that aligns with Ford's strategy of no boring products. -
I'd have to imagine that they'll take CE1 learnings and apply it to other products.....it only makes sense. But then again, it is Ford - they created a new fast product development approach for Maverick, which created something successful, and then were just like "nah we're good" and haven't used that approach again. My question of the casting approach is whether it can handle the loads that a Ranger or F-150 can handle? Unless there's a way to combine the giga-casting approach with a BOF product?

Except Ranger is the ROW F-150. I don't see them taking a BOF model and replacing it with a unibody-type model. If it's still BOF, wouldn't it just be a new Ranger at that point? Agree regarding a Ridgeline-style pickup. Regarding a small pickup - wouldn't it be easier for Ford to just offer a single cab Maverick at that point rather than a completely unique product? Though I guess with Farley's recent ute commentary, maybe the potential ute product is what helps give justification for a sedan product?? In other words, maybe the sedan and ute are based on one another, creating broader economies of scale for those two products? The question there is whether there's a 4-door Mustang AND another sedan+ute product, or just the Mustang 4-door....

Unless Ford thinks it can take the architecture from the CE1 with it's new castings and all the lessons learned and apply it to a Ranger-esque vehicle. If Ford can do that and save lots of $$$ per vehicle, they're going to do that as quick as possible so they can reap the benefits of the cost savings. Start small with the CE1 truck, move it up to Ranger size, then on up to F150 if it proves out. -
So there are only 2 of the 3 that for sure give us hints. I think the third is a Bronco in the background with that sleeping tent attachment. Here's the first......looks like the profile of cab of the new truck Looks like the windshield is on the left, meaning the bed would be on the right. I'm guessing the area circled in red is the back of the cab, which looks like a relatively thick pillar with a taper to it (guestimate in yellow, though it may fall at a more pitched rate.......with the silver panel there, it can't be the windshield The curved angle actually reminds me of the Crown Victoria rear window lol Here's the other photo: I'm torn between this being the front and back. I kinda feel like we're looking at the tailgate there that Jim's hand is resting on......BUT, that'd be a very short bed with us seeing a panel (with a cut line) in the bottom left corner of the photo, which also throws me off. If it's the front, 1) the front could be some crazy aero system (similar to how the Charger EV or Bronco EV in China does it), OR, a new idea I had is that maybe the front has a "bed" too? With the "hood" being a roll out panel or something? The pictue looks too low of an angle for that to be the top of the cab. Here's the third photo that looks more Bronco-esque with a chunky tire by Jim's legs, flare and roof shape similar to Bronco. However, looking at it closely, it doesn't look very finished, so it's either a mock up for that Bronco tent thing, OR, maybe it's some crazy rear shell thing for the bed?

I already received a recall about a trailer connection software issue on my 2026 Ranger I bought in late February that I need to get fixed and now this just dropped... "Ford is recalling about 140,000 2024‑2026 Ranger trucks due to a sun‑visor wiring issue that could cause an electrical short and fire in the A‑pillar, and will provide free inspections, wiring‑harness replacements, and a software update." 2 recalls in 2 months. Haha. I'm waiting for a dozen more to drop. -

You'd be surprised...well maybe not 😛 -
If Ford is bringing a new Maverick out in 2 years, this truck won’t be replacing it.
