They'll end up in livery service or as shuttles at MB dealerships.

I don't think they do that with profitable products. Certainly not F series. I think there is a difference between rot on the vine and longer refresh cycles. They do tend to stretch refresh cycles on everything except F series but that's not rot on the vine. Take Focus. Even when brand new it wasn't profitable so why would a refresh change that? Why spend time and money just to break even? They don't have the resources to do that and the other 3-4 vehicles at the same time, and those cheaper vehicles will sell better than a more expensive performance EV. The ICE mustang crossover should sell better and should be more profitable and they can add an EV down the road. It's just timing and priorities.

I was poking around on Ford.com the other day looking at MME GTs-I live in an area that has pretty good EV penetration and MMEs where very scare in any dealership-they where lucky to have one or two in stock. The MME is a good car but Ford can't make money on it and can't fix that and I'm not sure what they can do change that, even moving it to the CE1 platform. I think Ford is looking at the CE1 not possibly performing as well as they hoped, due to the way the market is. Best case is the market accepts it, but I have this nagging feeling that people (at least in the US) aren't going to unless they are forced to, either through regulations or gas pricing. There is just so much uncertainty in the automotive market in the near future and affordability, even for ICE products, isn't helping either. -

Just spit balling here, assume that base is RWD like Mach E but maybe 75% of the weight and therefore 75% of Mach E’s std range battery (72 Kwhr) so 54 kwhr? Ultimately, I’m estimating roughly 230/240 miles for base RWD version.

It blows my mind that he said that. -
25k is still too high for this. Under 20k is where this needs to be. These are a few examples of vehicles that cost less than 25k: chevy cruz toyota corolla nissan kicks multiple Hyundais and kias imagine if these were all bare bones AND made out of plastic AND they all rolled off the assembly line exactly the same. They’d be closer to 15k.

I feel like the design isn’t aging that great. It was a great car for Ford to make, and it had to happen but its ultimately limited (like the F-150 Lightning). It’s irrelevant but I’m still baffled by that one guy on the Mach E forum who said Ford focusing on affordability was a “big miss” for UEV.

Livery market is what the MB big shots are targeting for VLE in Europe, but they're not as sure for the U.S.: "Mercedes executives use the phrase "Grand Limousine" for the luxury-focused versions of the VLE. The VLE's stateside arrival is targeted for the second half of 2027. Many details remain in flux. While Mercedes executives are confident that the commercial car-service market will command 80 percent of European sales, they're less sure about the U.S. mix between car service and personal use." Wouldn't be surprised if the majority of U.S. VLE sales are also livery/limo/commercial car-service. A lot of limo companies up in Chicago have gussied up MB Sprinters in their fleet.
