Dear Ford management, I want to thank you and the Explorer platform team for your efforts at continuously improving the Ford Explorer. My first was a 2011 front wheel drive XLT with the 3.5 V6.  It was a nice car and except for a radiator fan that broke, never gave me any other issues. The next Explorer was a 2021 XLT all wheel drive.  This one except for handling and fuel economy and vehicle dynamics, seemed to be a step backwards compared to the 2011. The third Explorer was a 2023 ST Line that seemed to fix some of the issues with rough shifts, NVH and marginal engine/transmission calibrations! My latest Explorer is a 2026 ST Line all wheel drive that is significantly better than the 2023 in “every” category. It’s finally an excellent vehicle. Looks like the new 2.3 MCT does everything well and the ten speed is finally refined and matched to the new engine design. Thank the entire team for these continous improvements!   edselford

True. It's my hope that if they both to give each car unique proportions and packaging, that they give each car its own unique design as well. A stretched mustang coupe wouldn't be ugly, but it would be a bit derivative. I'd rather see a future where the coupe and sedan are differentiated in terms of styling.    I've often said if we're gonna get a mustang sedan and keep a mustang utility, both of which have much better rear seat practicality than the coupe and will, in theory, appeal to mustang buyers who want a usable backseat far more than the coupe does. I wouldn't mind a future where that meant the coupe becomes a 2 seater and they used that new packaging flexibility to give the coupe more seductive proportions.

Me either.  I always thought the 996 911 looked way better than the 986 boxster until the 981 boxster in 2013.    

Out of all the renders I have seen this is by far the best.  I agree though the two tone for the roof can go.

I'm doubtful, but it'd be cool if we got a Lincoln version too.     The main point of this is two-fold: to keep development costs low by pairing/re-using as much as they can of Mustang coupe/vert and to build something under the Mustang sub-brand umbrella.   Doing a completely unique body undoes the main point of the approach they're taking (and also is an argument against the idea of a Lincoln version).     I'd be surprised and disappointed if they did that.     I never realized that first gen used the same front end....
