It's a long shot, but just imagine if Ford develops some sort of sporty unibody platform not just for the coupe, and a mustang sedan, but that could also if it was flexible enough, be used for something like the gas powered 2 row mustang crossover we've heard about. Maybe the platform could even be used for other specialty products like a halo cobra model or something. Using the platform for 3-4 vehicles instead of just one. Then factor in improved efficiencies inspired by the skunkworks team. Between improved engineering and design methods, and much better platform optimization and cost sharing, I could see a future where a mustang gt maybe gets back into the 40s again instead of being 50, 60, 70 grand. -

This is why I believe Ford should be taking a lot of the learnings from the skunkworks team, and applying it to the next gen mustang and beyond. They were able to reduce cost, complexity, and weight, while improve quality. Just imagine a similar approach applied to mustang. That doesn't mean everything needs to carry over, like the assembly tree idea with making the car in three separate pieces. That would require a major overhaul of flat rock to outfit it with a similar production layout to the CE1 plant, and I don't see that happening. But I can see the engineering and design teams learning a lot from the skunkworks teams on how to improve efficiency and think different to get a better result. -

Based on the comments Farley is making on the importance of affordable v8, I believe a v8 gt will live on for at least another generation. But they need to get the price down. -

My thoughts exactly. Plus they gave it a ton of power and made it fast, which I kinda think was a mistake. I believe they should have stayed focused on making it a tool, and saved the millions spent to performance to instead make the truck more affordable for customers. Their approach kinda reminds me, and I can't remember the exact name, but I believe it was like Bollinger or something. Where that company was trying to appeal to commercial buyers, but the truck was insanely expensive. I remembered thinking "Who's gonna pay luxury truck money for a truck that looks like it was built in a shed from an unproven startup?" and the answer is, no-one lol. -

Im exactly in the demographic you speak of. Would I love to buy a brand new Mustang GT? Absolutely. Can I afford one? Fuck no, and I don’t ever see that changing. I’m not the only one. -

The bullnose Aero is pretty cool, IMO It's different, but needs a real box, at least as an option. Otherwise, it will die on the vine. The OG '61 Falcon-based Econoline Pickup could be optioned out for a max 1670 payload in its 7ft bed. -
I would speculate that price is a bigger factor there than market desires.

Yeah for commercial purposes, the looks don’t matter as much as long as it gets the job done. If I had a farm or a large amount of land, I would consider a truck like this instead of a UTV. Unfortunately the Telo truck is pretty expensive starting at 41k. It’s already a tough sell with its looks, and even tougher with its price tag.
