I am not against electric vehicles. While my to and from work driving pattern may look like a prime candidate, my life does not. Outdoor parking with no charger. Special needs kid that sometimes can't wait an hour or two for charging. Get a full charge in under 10 minutes and electric charging stations on every corner, maybe I'd consider it.
Completely unrelated to Ford, but because we were discussing air disaster vids and you got me thinking about that, I ran into a few where my grandfather was part of the investigation team which is interesting.
One where it was a passenger jet somewhere in Europe back in the 80s that was flying in bad weather with really low visibility and they crashed into the top of a mountain that the team had to hike up to.
The other was a Lauda Air 757 where the thrust reverser engaged in-flight leading to a nosedive. They put him on a 757 and had them replicate some of the conditions. He has a photo somewhere of him taking a photo out the window as the thrust reverser is deployed.
He was just following orders but they conducted that test at a lower altitude where the air was more dense. Turns out if they tried that at cruising they also would have crashed so it's good they didn't.
The lease rates are really good right now.
And it may give you an opportunity to test the technology out at relatively low risk.
Your driving patterns are a good fit for an electric vehicle.
I think you would be pleasantly surprised by how well the vehicle drives, and how easy it is to live with.
All I ask is that you test drive one to see what it's about.
I was in the same boat as you. For the first time in 25 years and after 5 Fords, I bought a Crown Signia. It was not an easy choice to leave the brand. I was between that, a Maverick CX-50, CRV and a Grand Highlander.
We already know from Farley's comments that a Bronco with exportable power (i.e. Pro Power Onboard) is coming. That means there will be a hybrid Bronco since that is a prerequisite for the larger Pro Power Onboard systems. The unknown is whether Ford will do the same for the Ranger (assuming it remains in the NA Ford lineup).
