Probably the most successful has been the angular RAV4 and its Adventure variant.
In 2024, the RAV4 outsold the Escape + Bronco Sport + Maverick combined.
For 2026, Toyota will keep the formula by having a boxy mainstream model with an adventure version.
For the US market, the Adventure variant has been renamed "Woodland".
I think a lot of people like the off-road capable look in this segment, and the actual off-road capability is just an added bonus. As you are pointing out, more players are in or getting into the game. The Nissan Rogue Rock Creek Edition is another. This is why I think Ford has to be more aggressive with BS changes than it’s big brother. It’s competing in a highly competitive segment.
Getting the decontenting started early😉
I see they got rid of wild green, one of the best new colors I’ve seen in quite a while. Ford needs some help with the color selection IMO. It’s pretty generic.
They did figure it out that people don’t want magnetite colored wheels on a blackout package, so that’s nice. Too bad they didn’t make the same change on the Explorer.
Out of curiosity do you happen to know what insurance for a “normal” pickup like F-150 or Super Duty would cost if in same price range? Insurance premiums are hard to figure out sometimes, and not just for vehicles. 😀
The specific slice of segment may get a little smaller with Honda adding CR-V TrailSport which is a hybrid. It’s not really meant for serious off-roading but makes a compelling choice for the 99% that won’t actually go beyond easy dirt trails anyway. Honda lacks Bronco off-road image but has good brand reputation and following. Escape buyers looking for a bit more adventure may be tempted.
2026 Ford Expedition Ditches Wireless Charging Pad
According to sources familiar with the matter, the 2026 Ford Expedition no longer offers a wireless smartphone charging pad at all. Comparatively, the feature is included in most 2025 Ford Expedition trims.

This morning's updated gas prices in Hamden, CT (Greater New Haven)
$3.05 Regular (Cash) @ Gulf
$3.15 Regular (Cash) @ Citgo
Not surprisingly, this morning Citgo raised their price for Regular and restored the usual ten cent differential with the Gulf station.
The point with BS is that it has an emotional appeal based on appearance and off road ability and the legacy of the Bronco name that makes it far more desirable (for those that like it) than the other cookie cutter crossovers. Which means they don’t have to engage in price wars.
