PREMiERdrum
Eh, let Old GM chase sales crowns all they want. Ford needs to keep focused on 3 things: Profitability, Quality, and Profitability.
BORG
One thing is for sure, the 2010 Mustang restyle was not successful. I know I keep saying it, but Ford design is one of the worst in the business, certainly the worst among the big three and now behind Hyundai.
suv_guy_19
One thing is for sure, the 2010 Mustang restyle was not successful. Based on what, exactly. I know I keep saying it, but Ford design is one of the worst in the business, certainly the worst among the big three and now behind Hyundai. Again, based on what? Edstock
Through October, Chevrolet has sold 71,521 Camaros, and Ford Motor Co. has sold 64,171 Mustangs, according to AutoData Corp. Hmmm . . . call it 7,500 difference. Meh.

PREMiERdrum
Guys, lets give the Camaro some credit. That thing has been prettying up trailer parks coast to coast.
saintlaz1
i cannot hate on Camaro, i think the exterior design is better looking than the mustang and of course Vice Versa on the interior

Chester
I think that of the 3 cars in the class, the Camaro is by far the ugliest. I agree. It looks like a smiling fat pig to me. I think the challenger is the best looking. The Mustang looks good to me, but the same basic design has been around for quite awhile now, so it doesn't stand out like it use to. It;s got by far the best interior though, and is a great driver.
MY93SHO
Guys, lets give the Camaro some credit. That thing has been prettying up trailer parks coast to coast. If I see it again I'll take a photo of the black 2010 here with the cheesy Harley sticker in the back window and the handicapped parking tag on the rearview mirror parked in front of Walmart. I can't help but laugh when I see that thing. :hysterical:

The 10 Mustang I think looks different enough, but the Challenger has the best looking exterior.
OAC_Sparky
The difference in sales was the delay in rollout of the new 5.0L, people held off buying 2010s because it was announced that the '11s had the 5.0's coming. There were people ordering in Feb and not receiving them until the end of July. Very little dealer stock, as opposed to any GM sdealer having a choice of 5 Camaros on the lot. Full year figures mean nothing when your product is unavailable for half the year.
silvrsvt
I'm sure the Camaro is working off pent up demand also...Mustang sales have come down a bit since the 2005 launch...not like the economy is helping much either. I'm sure that Ford isn't worried too much about the sale crown

Ford Jellymoulds
Mustang is still the koolest new car on the planet money can buy, its a shame its sold by Ford of Japan who only buy 300 Escape - Mustang - Explorer vehicles in a country who has pissy little 600cc Suzuki Wagon R as its best selling car for several years. UK in contrast is the biggest buyer of Ford cars outside of North America does not get the Mustang despite the fact it is very much loved here, we have a gaping huge black whole for a Ford sports coupe in Europe left by the Capri back in the 1980's. Ford would not sell many 5.0 Stangs in Europe, but if its fuel price relevant to the European market they would have to double the production Stateside overnight to keep up with the demand here. Ford would double its Mustang productions numbers overnight in the USA if it came with something like the old 2.8 Cologne V6 that was fitted in the the Capri, maybe a 4 pot 2.0 Ecoboost/Turbo diesel version as well that was European fuel price relevant. Nothing would please me more than to buy a new Stang every few years rather than the present nothing that l am buying from Ford at the moment. We had a UK survey on the Brits "100 Most Popular Cars of all Time", it was the largest ever carried out of its kind in the UK run by a national newspaper, TV channel & l think it was Autocar magazine. Mustang came 9th even though it was never sold by Ford UK. Brits "100 Most Popular cars of all time" as voted by the British public, a bit off free market research.. 1. Porsche 911 2. Mini (Old shape) 3. E-Type Jaguar 4. Ford Capri 5. Ford Escort RWD Mk1 & 2s 6. Ford Cortina. 9. Ford Mustang (Not bad as it was never sold here) 18. Ford GT 40. Ford Mondeo The Craparo never made our UK top 100 most popular cars ever of all time list. grbeck
I think that of the 3 cars in the class, the Camaro is by far the ugliest. Definitely agree with that assessment...the Mustang is very attractive, and the Challenger looks good, too. But the Camaro just comes across as cartoonish. The base Camaros, with the plain wheels, look ridiculous. I see one parked along the street during my morning commute, and it's very awkward looking. It looks as though it was first secretly designed by the producers of The Transformers, and then handed over to GM for production.

TomServo92
From concept to production, I have never like the 5th gen Camaro. As grbeck stated, it looks cartoonish. To me, it looks the design was taken from the notebook of an 8th grader who was scribbling "cool cars" during health class. I like the Challenger a lot but I've always been a Mustang lover and while I was a bit cool to the '10 re-style, it's gown on me and am considering buying one next year to replace our aging LS. BORG
Didn't you just get a new MKX...? Yes, but I'm still admitting that it and most Ford designs are still lagging the industry. I don't see my MKX and think that's a masteful design, not at all. But it's a good car and I can excuse it for the features. That tends to be the case for all of Ford products, every single one of them is less visibly attractive than the competition with a few exceptions like the Taurus, but the features always sell me. Of course this is all my opinion so you can move on if you disagree. But I am "THIS" close to going over to Audi, I almost did it this time with the Q5 (which I loved!), Ford design has gotten that unpalatable to me. I suppose it's not entirely the design but the shoddy way in which updates are executed (Fusion and MKZ being a primary example), those are two cars that needed far more ambitious sheetmetal changes to bring their design quality up to snuff and they didn't do it while everybody else did. We better see the new Fusion in January, I can't stand looking at that sloppy looking car on the roads much longer, it's worse than the Camry. I'm realy questioning the product leadership at Ford, I don't see uniform success there at all, most of the good news comes down to accounting and restructuring, not product leadership. Ford also houses some fo the worst designs sold today, the E-Series and Navigator are the tops on my list as absolutely the biggest eye-sores on the road.
