mackinaw
He may be a good product guy, but he sure as hell can't drive. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/motor/2018/06/03/general-motors-executive-mark-reuss-crashes-pace-car-detroit-grand-prix/667677002/
fordtech1
You know that guy will never live that down. He will probably be known as crash at the office. However, knowing his title, he may be only known as crash behind his back.
coupe3w
Just plain lost it. Edited June 3, 2018 by coupe3w
AlRozzi
Maybe he should have practiced driving it before hand. Now he is going to have to pay for it!
Assimilator
He must be use to the C8 Corvette by now and forgot how sloppy the old C7 is.
Bob Rosadini
I can hear it now...."Who the hell checked this car out? did someone check tire pressures"?? blah blah. I've often wondered just how much attention is given to the abilities of some of the celebrities who end up driving a pace car.-then again not exactly a Camry on a Nascar oval. rperez817
Mark Reuss is a certified industry pool test driver on the North Course of the Nürburgring Motorsport Racetrack in Germany, and is licensed for FIA C and IMSA Road Racing. https://itsdetroit2018.org/markreuss/ Edited June 4, 2018 by rperez817
jpd80
Will Power summed it up well. After the race, IndyCar driver Will Power was sympathetic to Reuss' mishap. "I felt really bad for whoever was in the pace car," Power said. "It's very easy to do, and the traction control must have been turned off. Wasn't really his fault." Reuss is a rather accomplished test driver, i think he was caught out when the car over-steered, looked like ge got on the throttle a little early before he cleared the slight hump in the track. Apparently, that title and $1 will get you a coffee at McDonalds. If it were me...I would have jumped out of the car, put my fists in the air and shouted, "I meant that!!!", dropped the keys on the hood and skipped away. Anthony
The guy has the pedigree, we all screw up. Crappy situation, they had an opportunity to make light of it in a funny way and I haven't seen that done yet.
fordtech1
Truthfully, it doesnt matter. It sucked that it happened. He wont have to pay for it and in a short time people will forget about it. Its tough when mess ups are caught on camera.

Sounds like a " Shit Happens" bumper sticker is appropriate here.
akirby
Even professionals do that a few times per year in actual races. Doesn't mean we can't have a little fun with it though.
atomcat68
Patrick Bedard of Car and Driver crashed an indy car on a test lap too, running it into a wall while waving to the audience. Anyone can screw up.
fuzzymoomoo
Patrick Bedard of Car and Driver crashed an indy car on a test lap too, running it into a wall while waving to the audience. Anyone can screw up. A celebrity (Chris Hemsworth I think?) crashed a Formula E car last year.
mackinaw
Patrick Bedard of Car and Driver crashed an indy car on a test lap too, running it into a wall while waving to the audience. Anyone can screw up. It wasn't on a test lap, it was in the 1984 Indy 500. He crashed on the 59th lap and was severely injured. He crashed in the 1983 race too.
