Somewhat related, kinda sorta... Report: Lexus Isn’t Cool With Younger Car Buyers   It makes sense, I see F-Series Expy Mustangs and Explorers in wealthy neighborhoods. Even on my own street, only one person has a mortgage and yes they have a Tesla and an extremely high mortgage with a minimal down payment (I checked the records) surprised they paid what they paid.  

Seems like over the past 5 years or so we either get over/too busy styling or soap bar type styling on vehicles.    Car design have been suffering the past couple of years because of this.

Agree on "factory ..light pickup".  That GMC that 7M posted is a beauty in any case..says 3/4 ton but it looks heavier than that. If you want to see something interesting go to ..Americanheritagemuseum.org This is an unbelieveable museum nearby in Hudson/Stow Ma.    Click on "exhibits" and then "WWI Trench Experience".  After you go in the main entrance, this is  the first exhibit/show you will see-you have the option of being in that trench or viewing from an upper balcony.  But it is a "show" and you are then listening to the shelling etc. Not something you would take a 5 yr old to see. Note it identifies the ambulance  as a Model T..which I thought was the predominant WWI ambulance.

Subaru's designs used to look decent, but they've been getting hit more and more with the ugly stick, and this new Outback might be the worst yet, IMO.......and if that weren't bad enough, the Wilderness edition amps the ugly up to a 12.....     New Subaru Outback Finally Admits It’s An SUV And Not A Wagon | Carscoops       Wilderness edition.....my eyes are burning....how do you look at this and say "yeah, that's what we're going with!" It looks like they went into the AutoZone parts catalog and started slapping a bunch of random pieces on.
