Not surprising. Sadly most things are becoming subscription-based.
This could work ok if you only take a road trip once a year or something (I recall seeing an article recently where Ford's BlueCruise usage/subscriptions skyrocket during the holidays), but it's also still nice to pay once and be done, IMO.
There are quite a few in my area (then again, we have everything here), but you're right - Alfa is dying here, seemingly with little to no help on the horizon.
It's a very complicated relationship for certain.
While I was at Shelby, Shelby Las Vegas (manufacturing) didn't get along well with Shelby Calf (licensing, legal, etc). As one example, Shelby Calf. never told Shelby Vegas that they had moved the rights to the GT350 to Ford and away from Shelby - all while Shelby Vegas was wastefully mapping out a next-generation GT350.
On another spectrum, Shelby Vegas generally didn't want any part of Ford. Ironically, I was one of the very few people at Shelby who supported Ford.
Carroll Shelby constantly told us that we need to play and be nice to Ford -. After the 2008 Shelby GT500KR, Ford essentially parted ways and Shelby moved from the Speedway to a much smaller facility - the days of joint ventures were doomed.
Shelby Calf. constantly pushed for higher and higher licensing fees and other demands and that pushed Ford to move along...one can only milk the same cow for so long.
Even though my personal relationship with Ford was in the negative digits, whatever I requested from Ford for Shelby, we got it.
Ford has their ways and they are sometimes not easy to deal with, but at the end of the day you have to play in their sandbox.....if you want to play.
Yes! This is new investment in the North American version of the Ranger and I'm taking that as positive news. This is consistent with @jpd80 speculation that the Ranger is likely staying with some selective North American trims. Now I just need to hear that a Ranger Powerboost hybrid is coming to North America. If that happens I will become insufferable with my glee and celebrations.
I must insist that you take that back.
