They did look ridiculous but that was part of what made them awesome since they were engineered and built for a purpose and not a nostalgia driven poorly done money grab. -
Old guy here. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird looked ridiculous back in 1969 and this reincarnation looks just as bad. I like odd stuff but this is just a gimmick.

I'm strongly in favor of 60s design throwbacks when they're done well because of how timeless, charming, and pleasing a lot of those designs looked. But with this specific trim, you're spot on. It's a throwback to a niche car most enthusiasts don't even think about, and it frankly looks really stupid and ugly. I've often said Ford is the best brand in the world when it comes to retro inspired design. The mustang, bronco, and latest Ford GT were all inspired by 60s icons, and all 3 have design elements and shapes you can trace back to their 60s origins. But none of them looked forced, they all found a perfect balance of moving design forward and paying tribute to the past at the same time, that's what they're great designs. If Ford is the best with retro design, FCA is the worst. Because their designers approach to retro design is always just make the old design at 110% scale with no effort to add any modern style or move it forward. Or it's tacked on looking shit like this which looks corny as hell. Like this charger design was the best looking dodge muscle car in a long time imo because it took the muscular look, but make it more elegant and streamline, this just ruins it. I know what I propose is too much money and engineering effort for Stellantis, but considering the original daytona was all about advanced aero, I would have found it a lot cooler if they paid tribute by doing a modern daytona with more advanced experimental active aero. Maybe apply those learnings to Maserati and alfa models within the same corporation to justify the engineering expenses. A modern daytona with crazy active aero would have been badass, this on the other hand feels like the desperate final breaths of a dying company. -

I tend to agree. The Superbird/Charger Daytonas were awesome back in the day because they were a product of their time and actual thought went into it. This a money grab done as an afterthought. Had they done a better job of doing the retro look by giving it a modified nose cone like they did back in they day this might be a different discussion -

The New Dodge Charger SRT Has a Wing Straight Out of the Superbird Era and It Looks Ready to Fly So I hate to say this-why are they reaching back 50+ years to introduce something like this? The issue is that the vast majority of people who where "young" back then are in Nursing homes or retirement places and most likely shouldn't be driving something like this I'm Gen X and at almost 52 years old, this doesn't move the needle for me. I hate to say it but this rumored GLH is more exciting then recycling something that was in NASCAR 55+ years ago. Thoughts? -

I gathered from the article that he was spending faster than he was bringing it in, in other areas of his business. He owes FMCC for delinquent payments on floorpan, and e-commerce parts business that hasn't gone well. I have to wonder if selling the store wasn't his end game all along. -

Right, but I'm thinking Super Duty for a fifth wheel, and it'll be bigger than a 3.6L. -
This is a ltlle distressing: https://fordauthority.com/2026/05/ford-dealer-declares-bankruptcy-after-expansion-efforts-stall-out/ A Ford Pro Elite dealer is supposed to be a license to print money.

Penske buys diesel class 6, U-Haul does not. Ford had a good customer in U-Haul, since GM dropped the gasoline TopKick/Kodiak Ford had U-Haul's class 6 sales all to themselves.

It is typically lowest price wins which is what probably happened with U-Haul and their yearly order...lets hope Ford doesn't take that one laying down and puts up a fight for the sale. Looks like International has that "contract" right now....
