At the very least, we're going to see a lot of new and updated models by 2030. Covid and going all in on EVs for a few years really screwed things up at Ford. And that was coupled with killing off their cars not long before that. -
Does this mean the Ranger PHEV sells well? I don’t know whether or not Ford intends to export the skunk truck to Australia, Hilux BEV doing poorly is hard to parse since Toyota is getting dogwalked in general. I’m not sure if the Ranger and skunk truck are really direct competitors with each other, but the PHEV Ranger could perhaps give some insight into part of the customer base for it. As an aside since I’ve been ranting about what the Chinese are doing right, one thing that Ford seems to really not be improving on is development cycles. I find that kind of concerning especially when speed and execution are needed for Ford’s lineup. Ironically this is the only damn thing the idiots at Stellantis seem to be progressing in.

Then Honda should base it on a CRV architecture rather than the Pilot. It’s a city truck anyhow. The better fuel economy in a slightly smaller size would sell better to their long term customers. -
Yea, Frick is a Ford lifer. Roundabout ways using lots of words to say very little is to be expected from that big shot.

I don't think you'll ever see that in a hybrid truck unless you can break the laws of physics. The Maverick hybrid weighs nearly 1000lbs less then the Ridgeline does. The one thing people forget about when it comes to hybrids, at least the ones using the ECVT setup is the hybrid motor(s) make up the difference in power (HP/Torque) that the Atkinson cycle I4 they are attached to lose. It works in a midsized product or smaller, but anything that is approaching 4500lb or higher isn't going to be handled by a 250HP Hybrid I4 with and ECVT. That is why Ford is advertising the powerboost as a "power adder" and providing external power. "Cheap" is relative these days-$40K is under the 50K average transaction price for vehicles these days. -

Thanks for the data from Australia jpd80 my friend. In addition to high fuel prices, more choices for BEV, HEV, and PHEV must have helped the growth of those vehicle types. Are Tesla’s and them Chinese automakers expansion makin’ for a more competitive new car market for Australian consumers? Better affordability?

Also known as "The Jack Welsh gambit"....."Neutron Jack" Welsh was the CEO of General Electric from 1981 to 2001 and he was known for stripping GE down to what it is today by demanding that whatever market they were in, they had to be either first or second or the division would be sold off. -
