Well they did rebadge the Dodge (RAM?) Sprinter as a Freightliner for a time, and now they are M-Bs; riding success in the RV world more than the vocational. -

This is unrealistic extrapolation on my part but a base Mach-E (260 mile range RWD) starts at $38,290. If ford can cut 25% of the batter capacity to save weight and costs, hopefully this program can also cut ~25% in other build and development costs. That would put it in the sub $30k range. With Ford maybe turning a real profit on it. -
Causes of Aluminum Corrosion Iron Contamination: Microscopic iron particles can become embedded in the aluminum panel prior to painting. Over time, these particles cause the aluminum to corrode beneath the paint, leading to bubbling. [1, 2] Galvanic Corrosion: When exposed aluminum makes contact with steel parts (such as steel nuts, bolts, or an inner steel frame) moisture can act as a bridge, accelerating the corrosion process. [1, 2, 3] Paint Compromise: Stone chips and scratches that breach the factory paint layer expose the raw aluminum to the elements, allowing white aluminum oxide (corrosion) to spread underneath the paint.

So something to consider- making the D2C into a sedan wouldn’t be that “hard” to do, but it would cost a significant amount of money I’m assuming since it would need to be retested for crash standards due to the major changes in the passenger cell with the two additional doors. It would also help pay for any major updates for the coupe. I have no idea how CD6 would work as a coupe or even a sedan, but that would be the smart way of doing things, but I’d also guess that would take a significant amount of time vs going the D2C sedan route. I’d venture to guess that a D2C sedan could come in 2029, but anything CD6 would be post 2030. either way we have at least 36-48 months or longer before you can actually buy one and give it Fords history with products, they change their plans 2-3x times before that -

Yeah I thought they might have went way till I looked them up as I was posting that and thus my comment. -
As an former Ford, Visteon, and ACH employee, I can assure you that Ford ain't going to bring back Visteon in the manner of ACH 20 years ago. 😄 Visteon in its current form is completely independent of Ford. About 75% of Visteon's business now comes from automakers not named FoMoCo.

Thanks guys, it happened the day after my severely disabled brothers birthday as well. It's been a rough week to put it mildly, but it's getting easier as time goes on. -
That's the claim. I've started to suspect it's in how the hoods, being the only aluminum panel on the vehicles, are being prepped for paint. I should really talk to a body shop guy about that. It's not an aluminum issue, or we'd see it on the F-150 and Super Duty. If aluminum has a different need as far as primer goes, but they run the same stuff on all the panels, that would sure cause an issue. It's super weird that it seems to happen in the same places on all these different models, and across so many years. Like really, guys, figure it out.

Couldn't agree more. I'm just concerned that designers are gonna get wrapped up in this wave of 90s nostalgia we're seeing right now, and try to create some rounded, bubbly design that loses the mustang car look in favor of being a new edge throwback. I believe Ford should take more of the 911 approach. Not being as conservative in visual changes as Porsche is, but I mean sticking to the general shape and lines that have made the mustang such an iconic muscle car. Making it look iconic and timeless instead of trying to cash in on trends.
