Outback won basically because it was cheap. The big surprise for me was how bad the new 4Runner is... I've read a lot of how the base non-hybrid version is really under powered and the interior is really cheap and this test seems to point out just how silly it is to daily drive one of these vs. unibody based alternative. I agree with their take on Explorer. In the last facelift, Ford finally fixed the ultra cheap interior material problem. I had a rental Explorer a month ago (a XLT not Tremor) and it had been about 4 years since I last drove one. And the inside was 100% better place to be this time. The original version of this gen Explorer felt like a $25K interior inside a $50K car... you are constantly reminded you have made a bad life decision. The current version still not as nice as some but at least it doesn't feel like it belong in a Nissan Versa.

I'm admittedly curious about this, primarly as it's on the heels of strong rumors involving a 'Lincoln Bronco'. This would seem to be in-house competition.

The front isn’t terrible. Anything from Lexus looks a lot worse to me. That rear end though, woof. Wtf is that? -
Yea, Lightning can strike twice, right? 😃 Seriously, if Ford is serious about fielding a competitor to Ram Rumble Bee, it should leverage its experience with F-150 Lightning, whether resurrecting the one that was discontinued by the Ford big shots as you noted, or with a pure BEV version of the next gen Lightning, and get Ford Performance/Ford Racing involved

That's kinda what I'm thinking at this point. Them saying the model will stick around makes sense as a new "luxury" trim level (similar to Eddie Bauer in the 90s/2000s) vs. a temporary 1-2 year offering like the Stroppe version will be. I'm skeptical that they'd add 2 luxury trims.

The Lightning that's been discontinued? lol

My guess would be that Peterbilt is taking a loss to try and knock Ford out of Class 6-7....GM is out thanks to International selling the plant that built their mediums even though International will continue with a medium with their own bespoke cab (MV series) so I would bet that if Peterbilt can pull this off, Hino will be next. -
This is not good news for the Ford F-650. U-Haul is one of the last major fleets that buy a lot of F-650's, and up to this point I thought U-Haul was a very safe customer for Ford as they were about the only gasoline class 6 truck on the market and were very competitive from a pricing standpoint. Now it would seem that U-Haul is willing to pay a hefty premium for this new gasoline powered Peterbilt. I wonder what is causing U-Haul to switch, did Peterbilt make them a great offer? Is U-Haul dissatisfied with the F-650? Does U-Haul know something? https://www.theautopian.com/u-haul-will-now-rent-you-a-43-foot-peterbilt-truck-and-it-comes-with-the-first-ever-cummins-gasoline-engine/
