Remembering that GE1 is closely based on modified C2, a lot of the battery heating and cooling pipes came C2 hybrid supplier and was used instead of specific parts, the covering panels were just added in multiple steps so lots of easy changes possible… Ford never disclosed just how much Mach E ended up costing, I guess the cost of going down the wrong path with an electrified C-Max was the throwaway compared to elongating the wheelbase and adding front, centre and rear alloy frame sections to turn the C2 into “body on skateboard”…

I love the idiots who wait until they get into the turn only lane then turn on their blinker.

Are you looking at the Gas Buddy price map to give you an idea of fuel costs along your trip? https://www.gasbuddy.com/tripcostcalculator HRG -
I liked the show car they had last year. I feel they watered it down too much. It reminds me of when Lincoln had a great Zephyr concept, but watered down the final product to a boring car. But the BMW doesn't disappoint as much as the Zephyr, but I am a little disappointed.

About to do a 2,000 mile trip from AZ to MI. Towing the 5th wheel, I get about 12 mpg. Given the current fuel prices, we're getting into real money, and may leave the 5th wheel in AZ, and just take the truck. I'd expect pretty consistent 75 mph without the 5th wheel. I put together a spread sheet, and it's a pretty ugly number running diesel prices all the way up to 7.50. Although it does give me the option to buy a cargo trailer and bring some stuff back in the fall -

Damn... I wish I was still at Ford, SD calibrators literally were within spitting distance from my desk. None of the people I knew are still there -

Half a century ago when Ford had to pay premium prices for the engines, transmissions, and axles that went in to its heavy trucks most of the profit went to the suppliers of those components. Ford's solution to that "problem" was to pretty much exit the heavy truck market. Meanwhile, truck makers with a longer term view like Daimler, VW Group, Volvo, and Paccar invested in their own powertrain components and reaped the profits Ford forsake. Nowadays with a mass produced gas engine and transmission under a cab that was amortized decades ago, Ford is the low cost supplier in the market for cheap Class 6 and 7 gas powered trucks. But just one chassis component that has to be moved or a missing essential option and Ford ain't so cheap... -
You know what it means. 😉
