And that 50 MPH limit will likely also come with a large MPG penalty. Speculation on my part, but after the marketing hype of EREVs wears off and reality sets in they will follow the same trajectory as EVs.
Yeah, I figured there'd be a BEV dropoff with the credit ending. It'll be interesting to see if it keeps dropping and/or what those numbers stabilize at.
Hybrid drop could possibly be associated with lower Escape sales? Hybrid sales were off 726 units. Escape was off 2,095. Maverick was up 221, so the difference may lie in there somewhere?
I saw the explanation he posted.
The non-luxury full size SUV market is these:
Chevy Tahoe/Suburban
Ford Expedition
Toyota Sequoia
Nissan Armada
I feel customers of these types of models are usually looking for these models, and don't necessarily look at the broader 3-row market of smaller sizes, which the list included.
There's no laundry list for these models, that's the market that Ram is trying to jump into.
Meanwhile, bringing this online allows the Grand Wagoneer to compete in the luxury large SUV market without having to reach downward:
Grand Wagoneer
Cadillac Escalade
Lincoln Navigator
Infiniti QX80
Lexus LX570
BMW X7
Mercedes GLS
Audi Q7 (which is borderline, and why they're coming out with a Q9)
And even this list is generous because the first 3-4 are very different from the rest.
Durango will better compete with the Explorer/Telluride/Traverse crowd that was brought up in the article.
