  1. Brilliant. And where does he say that "everyone should stop driving pickup trucks, delivery trucks, vans, minivans, semis and utilities so you can see"? Still waiting for the quote.

  2. I see. So everyone should stop driving pickup trucks, delivery trucks, vans, minivans, semis and utilities so you can see. Got it.

  3. But I don't need one. So I'll stay with a car, thanks. And if Ford won't build one I like I'll go elsewhere. And I've owned Fords all my life. Problem solved.

  4. I hate them because when you're in a car you can't see around the bloody things for one.

  5. Okay well I'd never post something like this on a different car forum, but knowing that the average age of a Lincoln owner is the highest of all brands, then the chance that someone wears or will most likely need, or will be buying hearing aids (politically correct name - mumble inhibitors) is probably high. In 2013, the average age of a Lincoln buyer was 61 yrs old... and they nailed me - I'll turn 61 in a few months. Ouch. Oh well. Not calling myself deafsoundguy for nothing.... years of sonic punishment in the professional sound industry and loud tools has taken a toll. So I've been wearing hearing aids for over 20 years, and at 60 I need them a lot worse than I did 20 years ago. At a certain point, conversations in cars is not good, and that's a common bad environment for anyone with a listening/intelligibility issue. Road noise is the killer for wiping out important sibilant things our ears need for understanding a complete sentence. All you need sometimes is to miss one consonant in a sentence and it may wipe out the entire meaning of what the person said - was it bat, vat, or cat? Anyway, anyone that's getting hard of hearing knows exactly what I'm talking about... it sucks. In ANY car I've ever owned, conversation has been hard for me between anyone in the car speaking. I've had the luxury of owning a bunch of cars, didn't really matter, they all have been bad, with the Acura MDX being one of the worst for road noise for a "luxury" car. So last night I got to drive our new BL Nautilus! I never got to test drive it, my wife did. So I'd never driven a Lincoln before and it was a 90 mile round trip at all speeds down to see some family. I had my daughter next to me and 3 other family members in the backseat all of whom do not speak loud or with too much diction. My daughter has a soft voice and is always hard for me to hear her. I started down the road to go pick up my daughter and the car didn't seem that much quieter than our FPace at first. I knew it was, but it was deceiving. I noticed right away when I picked her up that I could hear her way better in the Lincoln. We got to Silverton where the others were. We picked them up and as we drove 12 miles to the restaurant we were going to, and for the first time EVER I had no problems hearing anyone in the car and they were behind me where normally I would be just lost on conversation. It was very impressive of how much the interior environment of the Nautilus was deadened to help quiet the car. It made a huge difference for me, and the first time I've ever really been able to keep up with all conversation going on, on the road doing 55mph down the road. This has been a super great benefit to deciding to buy the Lincoln, a benefit that I never even thought about. Right now, I am very impressed with the car. While the Fpace wins the sexy beast award and ability to slam a car in a corner, the Nautilus wins every other way possible, too many to list. The interior of our BL is so much better than the pictures, as anyone who owns one will probably agree. Our poor FPace is now sitting on the dealers lot for sale...it was a good run, but really enjoying the opulence of the BL. ? I would imagine that all other newer Lincolns would probably be as quiet or even quieter than the Nautilus. So hope this helps someone who needs or is deciding to make the splurge for some hearing devices and/or considering a new Lincoln!!! - DSG

  6. This........... Don't hate SUV's, woman has a 17 Escape. But no matter what you do to a SUV/CUV, same vehicle will handle better as a sedan. Bought a base fusion sport so it wouldn't have sunroof weight. Would it be a large affect, probably not, but I wanted lightest weight, lowest COG, I could get (also saved 1000's on other crap I didn't want). Probably going Stinger next, which I think are ugly, but it checks all the boxes and will be cheap soon as A, "sedans aren't selling", and B, "IC cars won't be worth anything soon".

  7. It's hard to really know what someone's talking about until you have the car for yourself. When you say "dramatically changes the vehicle" I was wondering just how much that could be true when Sports mode in most any other vehicle we've ever owned has just bumped around the shift points for the most part. Even my Cadillac is supposed to have all these changes in sports mode and I can barely tell a difference. In our now traded in Jag FPace, the different modes did the usual shift point things but as far as all this dynamic crap that it was supposed to do, I had a hard time telling any ride quality difference. I was really wondering if my rear end and senses had gone out the window. So now we've had the Nautilus a few days. Because of work I still only have a small amount of time to myself in the car. I finally switched it out of Normal into Comfort and wow there's really a difference I can feel and even cushier ride! I really like Comfort mode. While the torque is there, the throttle response isn't huge but more than enough (2.7 engine). So then I finally got to hit S mode and Wow! I agree with you Assimilator - completely different car! The throttle response is way quick and I could definitely feel the ride get firmer! There's this corner going back to my house that is about a 110 degree hard turn and then goes uphill into another turn. I know exactly how the Jag felt whipping around that corner. So I tried it in S mode on the Nautilus and I would go as far to say I like it even better in the Lincoln, power, torque, feel and handling. Anyone who complains that the ride is too stiff in S mode in the Nautilus sure hasn't had the 3+ years we had of ridin' like a truck in the Fpace. The Lincoln is moderately stiff in S mode but still way nicer of a ride than the FPace in Normal mode...? So far I'm just getting used to the Nautilus but right now I'm super impressed with it and it absolutely exceeds my expectations of the car. Have to say, what the heck is the deal with a 5 star rating on the car but a "poor" rating in the headlights? What? We were out last night and the headlights were awesome! Zero complaints. When we bought our Cadillac SRX back in 2014 - now THERE's a car that had sucky headlights right out of the gate. We were plenty bummed. We had to go get better lamps right off the bat. I have only one gripe - who in the world would put the steering wheel heater 3 screens back to get to and not on the steering wheel? Truly non-common sense....

  10. I don't hate SUVs or CUVs. I just have no use for a vehicle that attempts to combine sport, utility, comfort, style and other things into one package. From my perspective, SUVs or CUVs do not do any of those things particularly well. I prefer having a sporty car for fun and style, an upscale and well-equipped sedan for comfortable travel and a 4X4 pick-up for hauling stuff and driving when the roads are snowy or icy. For me, those are the right tools for each job. I have never been one to follow the trends when it comes to buying vehicles so having an SUV just because they are so popular at the moment doesn't tempt me at all.

  11. It’s perfectly logical to say you don’t like the styling or the high center of gravity or a dozen other reasons. That’s personal preference. To say you hate them because you can’t see around them is illogical because 1 - you don’t need to see around other vehicles to drive safely and 2 - there are all those other types of vehicles you also can’t see around. You can only really see around vehicles smaller than yours. Thus the sarcasm.

Yeah and notice the issue with taxes is ALWAYS pay more, we need more programs.Never, cut spending, eliminate waste, fraud and abuse or encourage people to work for money.Heres a clean hypodermic needle.Go ahead and 'shoot-up' buddy.Need $$$ for drugs?Just make sure your larceny = less than $950 and its only a misdemeanor, the police dont fully enforce anyways. You can sleep, defecate, urinate, aggressively panhandle, right in front of that business with the HELP WANTED sign posted in the window. No personal responsibility or accountability required or expected. They say you can`t beat the weather, living in California,Oregon and Washington. The "deplorable" taxpayer, the one pulling the wagon?Your 10 hour factory shift starts at 5 a.m. and you, better not be late.Progressive-Liberal motto = Aspire to do as little as possible , righteously, blame the "rich" for your plight and then demand to be given more, endless, "FREE" stuff.

  13. Nice bit of condescension... WE understand perfectly that Ford is trying to run and hide in what is for the moment the slightly more profitable CUV market segment. And Ford has already spent the money developing the new Focus. For me, I like the lower center of gravity that cars have. I like good handling, CUVs don't provide that.(and yes, I've driven them) The only thing that would get me to buy a CUV is that the new management company hired by our HOA is making "adjustments" to the snow removal policy. It's about 200 ft from my garage to the street..

  14. ...I don’t know what or when you were driving, but my M3P’s interior is on par with my mom’s 2017 Expedition Limited. I have a recent 2019 build with the upgraded sound deadening. It’s quieter than the wife’s CT6 PHEV. The only thing a I would really change is the center console’s finish. That glossy black gets a 0 out of 10 from me. I can’t believe they haven’t changed it yet. Also, the floor mats are piss poor. They would rate a 10 out of 10 for being the lowest contract price cheap-out part. The Tesla branded weathertech one’s are pretty nice, though. Also, once you get used to that abundant torque on call all the time, going back to anything else feels weird, especially the wife’s hybrid. The delays between input and action are frustratingly slow. Body motions are far less controlled in her car, and when we bought it, I held it in high regard for fairly top notch big car handling. The M3Ps steering response is almost too fast, until you get used to it. It is so easy to drive smoothly. Once you get used to how hard it regens, blasting down backroads feels like you have a telepathic relationship with the car. Honestly I love driving it. People think having that much power on tap has no purpose, but it is so useable and controllable you make use of it all the time. It really is just about the perfect muscle car. I just wish they’d make a 2/3 scale Roadster based on the 3 chassis with a targa top for $10k more. It would be unbelievably fun because it is so much lighter than the S they seemed focused on with the Plaid drivetrain. The S is just too heavy.

  16. How about let the market decide without the taxpayer subsidizing electrics . Take away the incentives that we are paying for and just where would electric sales be? As others have pointed out, electrics are not new. Perhaps we could go back to R. G. LeTourneau's concept for off road equipment where a diesel powered electric traction motors. That provides the benefit of a simplified power train. Admittedly, his concept survived for maybe 30 years or so but of late, starting with Cat who came out with the D7E dozer a few years ago, others are now coming out with diesel/electrics.

  17. Agreed. Illinois is among the states that have started ticketing drivers for having the light illuminated while driving. https://uberpeople.net/threads/more-cities-are-cracking-down-on-illegal-lights-rideshare-drivers-use.303753/ HRG

  18. What ever that suppose to mean. But not everyone needs or wants a truck or SUV / CUV. And it's a free country. If Ford doesn't want my money I can go elsewhere.

  19. I know that most categorize Teslas as luxury vehicles due to price. I think the S and X definitely qualify, but the 3? It may be expensive as most configure it, but its interior appointments are far from luxurious. Kind of a grey area. At times Musk claims all their vehicles are luxury vehicles (like when he said Tesla had, in the 3, the best selling luxury car in the country), at times not. If the 3 is a luxury vehicle then so is the Ford Mustang Mach-E and many Buicks.

  20. Hybrids, plug in hybrids and BEVs. Unique style and functionality - Bronco/baby Bronco. The key is to have something different so you’re not competing with others on price alone. If that doesn’t work then they (and everyone else) will have to adjust expectations. What some of you don’t seem to understand is you can’t keep all those cars and develop all the new vehicles at the same time. Fixed costs including new factories would kill profits.

  21. I'm more relieved by the elimination of aging models than the elimination of cars. I'm not happy the Fusion is going away, but I strongly believed all of the others needed to go, especially because the Focus has always been a troublesome product for the US for many reasons. I like the idea of the Fusion being replaced by what the Mondeo is getting, a low-slung stylish crossover (essentially a better looking wagon). But it looks like we aren't getting that. And anybody thinking Ford will have to go back to Focus hasn't seen what is coming yet.

  22. Yep, I think it's the one thing lacking from S550. This official rendering (one that didn't make the cut as S550) does it really well. It doesn't have to be a fake vent, in fact it'd be much better simply as the "hockey stick" pressing, just as the '65 did it originally Actually, this rendering is one of my favourites and I'd love that to become S650 or a heavily facelifted S550

  23. They better think twice before ending Fusion. I'm seeing a lot of police depts. that have been buying Fords for 50 years now buying Dodge Chargers because they want a car, not an SUV. You know what that means, right? Now that they've been introduced to Dodge, they'll be buying Durango SUV's if they want an SUV! Hold on to the Fusion, Ford! The Ford decision makers aren't too bright.

  24. Personally I see this as good and bad. Yes this is where the market is going and it’s the right decision to make, but as someone who has moved up the ford family of vehicles over the years, it’s a bit disappointing to see the affordable/low price cars disappearing. I have no problem with the fiesta and Taurus going, but focus was a great starter/commuter car and if you have a family, the fusion was big enough for everyone with plenty of trunk space for a family of 4, all for several thousand less then the escape or edge.

  25. How on earth? I entered 60185 in the build and price and only get $500 on rebates for the XLT. EDIT: never mind I was looking at 2020 Rangers. I may trade my XLT on a new one. Lol.
