2015 Edge Spyshots

Recommended Posts

My comment was in response to the assertion that the f150 is getting everything new at launch. That isn't the case obviously.

Nobody said that. They said it was getting a new platform, top hat and drivetrain (engine in this case).

Is there a special show going on that day? I think the Texas state fair is later in summer?

Ford Social put it out on their Instagram and FB pages. It could be something similar to what they did with the Explorer. Sometimes being the only one launching something helps you stand out a lot more. They will probably tease a dark image a day between now and then to build buzz over the weekend.

Sweet. Thanks

Will the new edge continue at Oakville? Maybe they plan to run the new and old model for a while? Similar to the new F150.

All signs point to yes on OAP building it. No reason to build them both. You're only talking ~10,000 units a month. And it's not called Impala.

Even if you take into account additional export volume for Edge, I don't see it needing an alternate location, given the other products at Oakville are the slow-selling Flex and MKT.

You can only do that with multiple plants, Oakville is being refurbished for new CD4.2 Edge and next MKX.

It may be easier for Ford Europe to build its own Edge at Valencia alongside Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy.

There are significand differences in some front internal crash protection panels and diesel emission

systems to make the vehicles a little bit more regional than most think. It's not as easy as building

all of them in one place and distributing from there.

The new Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the EU will allow Canadian automakers to ship as many as 100,000 duty-free vehicles under relaxed rules-of-origin requirements should be a plus.

Excellent. Export from Oakville to see if the EU market can justify tooling up in Valencia. Also, if ever Lincoln should be sold in the EU, the MKX can be exported too. :)

Couple interesting articles I came across searching CD539 (new Edge) program

1.From a supplierbusiness.com page 2015 Ford Edge Second Generation (Platform: CD4; Program code: CD539; Assembled: Oakville, Canada; SOP: November 2014) - See more at: http://www.supplierbusiness.com/page/65/cutaways#sthash.7r5YcHdY.dpuf

Start of production is November 2014, and I also read for Europe the Edge will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2015.

2.Ford job ad on Linkdin Program Vehicle Integration - Vehicle Integration/ Engineering for the CD539E/X (code for Edge Europe) and CD390 (code for Mondeo/Fusion,S-Max & Galaxy) programs, at the Cuautitlán Mx Plant were at the moment the Fiesta is being assembled.

Does this imply that rumored Fiesta assembly being halted at Cuautitlan really is happening, and Ford will move its CD4 platforms in there?
