fuzzymoomoo
It would certainly be a nice surprise but Im not expecting it myself.
PREMiERdrum
Not without a drastic schedule change that has been kept very quiet.

fuzzymoomoo
Not without a drastic schedule change that has been kept very quiet. So when might we plausibly see it?
PREMiERdrum
Could we see a concept? Given that the new model isn't a full stylistic departure from the current, I wouldn't expect one at all.
jpd80
Given that the new model isn't a full stylistic departure from the current, I wouldn't expect one at all. Thanks,it's more likely that Ford will show a production ready model but I'm thinking that Ford won't be changing Explorer anytime this year. Are we 12 months too early for Explorer? Are we 12 months too early for Explorer? Explorer refresh debuted last season (NY?). At the time the auto rags thought wed see the new model during 2019 as a 2020. I think we are into this one about 8 years now.

Deanh
why would they kill potential sales of 18s by an ill advised pre-release?.....too soon guys.....
silvrsvt
I wouldn't expect it till next Year. It would be prime time for a Bronco concept though It is launching next year.

rmc523
Maybe. Not so sure thats set in stone yet. Could be launching in 2020. Isn't it supposed to be a 2020 model though? Which would mean sales in (likely late) 2019?
fuzzymoomoo
Isn't it supposed to be a 2020 model though? Which would mean sales in (likely late) 2019? Ranger is a 2019 model and theres no way a single one hits a dealer lot in 2018. Also its a somewhat educated guess.

fuzzymoomoo
Thought they had to be on sale on Jan 1 of model year No. They have to have production in the prior calendar year (so 2019 model needs to have some production in 2018 and preproduction units count)
bzcat
In theory, 2019 model can be on sale anytime after 1/1/2018 In practice, Ford has been known to release next model year in spring or early summer. jasonj80
No. They have to have production in the prior calendar year (so 2019 model needs to have some production in 2018 and preproduction units count) No they don't a 2019 model can be built from 1/1/2018-12/31/2019. It could also be built from 12/1/19-12/31/19 if they wanted to only do 1 month of production for some reason.

Sorry I took prior calendar year to imply that 2019MY production has to start in 2018CY. It does not, 2019MY production can start at any point in 2019CY as well as 2018CY. akirby
thats what I said. Production has to begin in the prior calendar year. A 2019 model can be launched any time in 2019. It does not have to be launched in 2018.
Gnostic
In the United States, for regulation purposes, government authorities allow cars of a given model year to be sold starting on January 1 of the previous calendar year. For example, this means that a 2019 model year vehicle can legally go on sale on January 1, 2018.
