But I don't see this name resonating with buyers. I think Ford is trying to do something different-its like the Dark Horse name on the Mustang as its current range topper. While the Shelby name has cashe or whatever, it really doesn't mean much to younger buyers (say under 30-40) like it would to older people like gen X that might only be 10-20 years removed from the famous 1960/early 1970s Mustangs when they where new. They jacked up the wheels on the 2025 Explorer as well. Last time I checked, there was no other wheel option for the ST, which needs to happen, stat! But wheels are one of the easiest things to change out on a car-IMO i like the wheels on the Maverick Lobo-but then again I liked WRC, so those Rallye style wheels appeal to me. I'm not opposed to something different....just feel like US buyers won't love "Lobo".....why not call it "wolf" for the US market.

The wheels, grille, and name are all terrible. How hard is it to get a set of decent wheels? Literally anything would have been better. The new lariat wheels in all black would have looked great. The grille , the wheels and the name are the best part of this truck! Love those flat wheels. Love that vertical grille. Is a very attractive truck. Sticking with the animal theme, I thought coyote would have been a good name. It’s already the name of a higher end engine so it has a performance heritage. akirby
I’ve seen a lot of folks online loving the turbo wheels. I think it’s just personal preference and plenty of buyers in that market will like them.

Yes I agree with you they are easy to change, but in most cases I would rather not, on non-trucks anyway. For me, the Lobo fits into the non-truck group in this case. I always change the wheels on my trucks because I like a negative offset. I have liked many factory wheels and would have kept them but for the offset. On all of our other vehicles I’ve never changed the wheels because they were attractive, good quality, and didn’t need an offset change. Fortunately, the Lobo has a reasonably price option that is attractive, because I wouldn’t want to drop another $1200 on it. The Explorer ST, on the other hand, is not so lucky. Having PPOB for back country, camping and various home/farm needs would make this compact truck even more useful. A Maverick with PPOB could power your house during a grid outage (e.g. hurricane Beryl) just like the F-150 Powerboost does. Maverick offers 400 Watt system but you are correct that it could use much higher capacity. I was without power recently for 7 days during Beryl and got by fairly well with 2200/1800 Watt portable inverter generator. I powered everything I needed except for air conditioning (lights, fridge, internet, TV, ceiling fans, compact microwave and coffee maker). Anyway, the European Transit Custom PHEV with similar powertrain (except it has much larger battery) offers 2.3 kW Pro Power Onboard. With smaller Maverick battery it may require engine to cycle too often, or to remain on, when electric load is high, but you’re probably correct that it is a matter of time. It would be great to have up to 7.2 kW of power like F-150 hybrid, but even 2.0 kW like in non-hybrid F-150 would be very useable.

It doesn't look great, a 40 grand price point negates the entire point of the maverick, and it doesn't even get a higher power output. In fact, for reasons no-one seems to know, the 2.0 has been defined for 2025. Longevity maybe? But I don't see 12 HP making much of a difference there. It doesn't seem like it's for emissions reasons either. It's down 12 HP because they are sticking a gas particulate filter on it. I expect more check engine lights in the future for these owners. Just ask modern light duty diesel owners about emissions issues.

The F-150 Powerboost’s HVB (1.5 kWh) is about 36% larger than the Maverick’s HVB (1.1 kWh). Ford would likely need to increase the Maverick’s HVB size to match the F150’s PPOB but they would more likely deploy a smaller PBOB. Can’t have the F-150’s little brother matching it.

Ford Media page shows Maverick Hybrid with upgraded 4,000-pound tow rating pulling various compact camping trailers, including an Airstream, which definitely weighs over 2,000 pounds. Most all compact camping trailers use 30A at 120 VAC service, so maybe a 3,600 Watt PPOB system would be a practical middle ground. At half the power rating of F-150 Hybrid, it may not require larger battery, nor would match F-150? Greater power is obviously better, but even 20A 2,400-Watt PPOB would be huge improvement over 400-Watt present inverter. For me, the higher 4,000-pound tow rating and AWD make hybrid Maverick a lot more tempting option for camping.
blksn8k2
This may have been asked and answered already and if so, my apologies. When will the 2025 Maverick Build & Price feature be available on Ford.com? When I checked today it was still for the 2024 model year.
