jcartwright99
This seems to be the case of Ford chasing the tails of Wall Street to increase their stock price. Meanwhile, Wall Street is just going bananas on buzz words and shiny objects that sound cool. Most everyone here understood it was going to be a phased migration to electric vehicles and hybrids were going to be the bridge. Yet Wall Street listened to the carnival barker Musk. GM and Ford took the bait. In my opinion, Toyota had the best strategy. Look at their lineup. I think they have a hybrid in every segment.
Rick73
Took them long enough. That some manufacturers thought building BEVs as large as 9,000-pound Hummers was a good idea was absurd from onset. They will probably now correct too far in opposite direction, but that’s part of the process to get it right.
rmc523
Crazy.....but I'm also sure this plan will change again in a few weeks, as is Ford's typical MO. 2
DeluxeStang
Not the worst idea. The Ford three row was an abomination on wheels according to those who saw it. Let's just hope Ford doesn't apply that horrific design approach to CE1.

The proportions of the kia with the roofline and areo nose of the rover.

I don’t think it will change much considering the skunkworks team has been working for 2 years so they’re far enough along to know what’s feasible. As opposed to the previous plan which was shoot from the hip at a moving target while playing footsie with Rivian and VW and doing absolutely no due diligence.

Sherminator98
I wonder how this affects the Mach E-there was rumors of additional models coming out like a coupe type vehicle and other things.

I’m so glad it has been shelved and canceled. I have no doubt it would have been a sales bomb if it did launch. And priced over $60,000 I believe it would have been an epic failure. I've worked in the business for close to 40 years now at the dealership level... managing new vehicle inventory and running the Dealer Principal's in-house advertising agency representing 3 Ford dealerships in addition to a Hyundai dealership, Dodge dealership, real estate development, Marriott hotel proposal, Arabian horses, corporate air charter and real estate interests in Nantucket, MA and New Orleans. Not once did I ever consider investing in Ford. With 4,000,000,000 common shares outstanding, it'll take major changes and performance results for the shares to change to any degree.

Deanh
I recall getting razzed for implying I though Ford had made a huge mistake going all in on Electrics and that they should have slowed the transition through building more hybrids....EVs time will come I guess....that said theres some interesting alternatives being investigated....so will it?...and if it does what will its shelf life be if a superior alternative rears its head.

When you guys said it was even worse looking than a Kia ev6, I knew there was no saving it.

Yup and because of this strategy the Edge is gone and we’re getting a Chinese Nautilus. Totally unnecessary cancellation in my opinion. Anything ford says now I’m thinking in my mind well that can change! It shouldn’t have taken them so long to develop a three row EV. It’s all about cost I suppose. I seen the frame of the 3 row. It wasn’t revolutionary but it wasn’t as horrible as it looked under the tarp. Anyways, I hope the low cost strategy and their strategy going forward works. Sherminator98
So can we get confirmation that this was actually it or at least part of the design process? https://www.carscoops.com/2023/02/mystery-ford-or-lincoln-sporty-model-spotted-at-dearborn-premises/

akirby
Well the whole point of the weird design was to make it more efficient and therefore cheaper. If it was really going to be $60K then that’s just a royal cluster F@*+ all the way around.

It just seemed pretty horrid if it was the "ugliest Ford design in 50 years" as ED claimed.

But at 60, no-one would have touched it.

DeluxeStang
Now BORG is claiming T3 might be canceled. His reasoning is it keeps getting delayed, and full-sized EV trucks aren't doing very well.
