The Chinese Territory/Equator Sport is a SWB share with the Equator platform,
both vehicles developed by Ford China’s partner JMC but suspect its’s on the
modified bones of the previous CD4 platform (width is 76” like Edge).
irrespective that, it shows what is possible with enough thought, a vehicle the
length and width of Territory would be different enough for product space
from Bronco Sport but I realise it’s impractical to uproot it as is.
After 10 days of driving my new Expedition I am very happy with it. Many of the controls are different so still learning them. I quickly adjusted to the shape of the steering wheel. I am still wondering why each screen shows the map and haven't figured out how to change the seat profiles from #1 to #2 without using the fob. Both running boards deploy even if opening only one door. My 2017 deployed only the side of the opening door. The split gate is good. I had no idea the bodywork is aluminum until I tried to attach a magnetic mount cb antenna. I install the cb only for trips so I guess those days are over. I am less than impressed with the "owner's manual" app. So far so good. CJ Dave.
I was doing some digging into the Territory and its wider then the current Escape-I wonder if its a SWB C2 platform shared with the Mondeo and Mondeo Sport?
I'm also guessing Louisville isn't really an extension-just production will run a couple months longer before the retooling so people aren't laid off for 8-12 months. I'd expect the EVs to be coming out by the end of next year.
Pretty much the same way that full sized pickups are in Australia as most are AUS$120k-$150k (US$70k -$95k)
In some instances maybe a lot more than that…
There’s a fully maintained novated lease set up where the business pays a monthly payment that’s not subject
to fringe benefit tax (no payment for personal travel). Those on high income higher tax brackets get a big leg up
when a vehicle is included as part of salary package.
Just came across this... Looks like Ford Taiwan is going to replace Kuga with Territory (Equator Sport) next year. Another nail in Escape's coffin.
22 pre-production test builds registered by Ford Taiwan. Probably means they are going to test it before starting full scale production. Taiwan is one of the 4 worldwide Escape/Kuga production sites:
Louisville: extended?
Valencia: end in 2025
Taiwan: looks like it will end in 2025 and replace with Territory
China: ?

Just more gaming the rules, once a big battery BEV exceeds upper GVM limit for CAFE vehicles, it seems to be off the radar as a guilt free indulgence for those who can afford one.
After the "gas crisis" of the early '70's, everybody rushed to downsize their full-size cars and make them lighter. GM was first up in 1977. Ford didn't have their stuff ready (the Panther platform) until 1979. For two years Ford had to find a way to sell their heavier sedans, so they coined the ad slogan "road hugging weight". It did buy them time until the Panther-based vehicles came out.
Yeah, mass is so high that Car and Driver claims it makes Escalade IQ exempt from EPA testing. Not sure about “road hugging weight”, but can probably make road kill out of smaller vehicles. That’s what I find most concerning with extreme excesses, though know it’s not a black and white issue.
For what it’s worth, EPA ratings for Hummer EVs are so bad that it explains why it takes so long to charge even when using latest SuperChargers. I find it interesting to contemplate that GM could build 4 good-size BEVs with the same 205 kWh of battery capacity, and each could still achieve +/- 250 miles of range using latest technology.
