I don't think there was anything wrong with the Mustang redesign, it's a better car than its even been before. I think the market for that type of car is dying. Consider that Mustang sales are generally down but the car has no real competition now. That's concerning.
You may have placed your order in April with the dealership, but they couldn't submit it till the first day the order bank opened which was on May 22. First day of production wasn't scheduled until July 21. So, depending on where you are in the pecking order of production, your vehicle may not even been scheduled yet. Your best bet is to go back to the dealership and ask them where your order is in the queue.
I tried to like it and I just can't. It just doesn't work. The design sketches were actually kinda ok, the surfacing look slightly less flat, the proportions looked more natural, etc, but the end product was just not well executed.
All we can hope for is that Ford learns from this, and makes the next gen explorer and Capri, assuming they get a next generation, far more compelling in terms of design. Using their own platform with presumably more flexible design hard points would be a good start imo.
TBF, if you could fit more than one of these modern super bulky car seats in the back I think more people would be interested. That was the ONLY reason we traded our 2015 Focus for a Fusion.
My only gripe with it is I wish it had the heritgage/everglades fenders and quarters. Otherwise it’s the best anniversary package ford has come out with since the 2014 1/2 50th anniversary Mustang.
The redesign was a big swing-and-a-miss IMO. I never saw a single media member excited about it and the general public seemed to react with a resounding “meh.”
Need a major refresh, not the standard minor bumper change they’ve been going with the last 10 years.
Last year was the worst sales year in Mustang history, if US sales totals on the Mustang wiki page are right. I hope sales improve to ensure the Mustang continues.
