The refreshed models look better
The Mark VII looks too much of a product of the 1980s in my eyes-it looks good for its period but otherwise doesn't really stand the test of time.
The MN12 platform was a mess from the get go-there was lots of complaints about it being overweight and expensive. It died in less then 10 years but also that segment was pretty much dead by the time it came out.
I’m still suprised Lincoln never got a version of the Mach-E. Was ford concerned with demand or potential pricing? Most Ford products should have a Lincoln imo.
Few except for entymology geeks know what zephyr means:
zephyr | ˈzefər |
noun
1 literary a soft, gentle breeze: "sweet zephyrs just stirred the woods with their breath."
• (Zephyr) a personification of the west wind.
Loosely fits with Lincoln's "Quiet Flight" mantra, but the name got tarnished when Mercury slapped it on the Fairmont clone; no going back. Lincoln tried it again on the CD-3 variant for a couple years before going with MK-Z. Ford, and domestic carmakers in general, have tarnished originally cool car names by recycling them or shifting them to a completely wrong car; think Cougar,Thunderbird, Capri, the aforementioned Zephyr, or even to different company e.g. Edsel and Chevrolet Citation
So what are everyone's thoughts on the Mark VIII? In my opinion, they are nice cars but I honestly think Lincoln took a step backwards on the styling compared to the Mark VII and that is probably one the factors affecting current resale values. The VII was just a classier looking car. The VIII no doubt was a step forward in technology but it was also the ultimate expression of jelly bean styling. IMO, even the '89 Thunderbird, especially in SC trim, was a much nicer looking car than the Mark VIII. I also wasn't a big fan of the T-Bird's styling "updates", especially the nose. If Ford had had the guts to eventually offer the 4.6L 4V in the T-Bird that would have been the ultimate MN-12. Instead they chose to put that glorious engine in a bland Jujubee shell.

Las Vegas gas prices are up 25 cents per gallon over the last month, with prices inching higher over the past week.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline on Thursday in the Las Vegas Valley was $3.96 per gallon, up nearly 7 percent from the $3.71 a month ago in Southern Nevada, according to AAA data.
The increasing fuel prices are because of issues with oil refineries in Southern California, where Las Vegas gets much of its fuel from, according to Patrick De Haan, lead petroleum analyst for Gas Buddy.
“In the last month what’s causing the increase primarily had to do with the refinery outages (in California) since late July, early August, that we haven’t fully recovered from,” De Haan said.
Gas prices increased 3 cents over the last week, with the price remaining the same over the last day, according to AAA.
California has the most expensive average price of gas in the country at$4 .65 per gallon, followed by Washington ($4.64), Hawaii ($4.48), Oregon ($4.26) and Nevada ($3.92), according to AAA.
If Everest would be a legitimate 4Runner/Landcruiser competitor then a Lincoln version would be a legitimate GX competitor.
A four door Mustang would be cool. A Lincoln version would also be cool. It would sell in MkT numbers, and wouldn’t compete well with, for example, the CT5-Blackwing. That thing is a beast, but I have no idea how GM justifies it.
This is my vote if there is only one new model. Disappointing there is only one since they have platforms to work with. Seemed like a no brainer to do a Mach E based model. I’m preparing to be underwhelmed, but I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
I’m resurrecting this photo because I like the vibe of it.
