Thats exactly my plan.  Had pilot sports on my Lincoln LS and they were great.  Unfortunately the Porsche requires N rated tires so there goes my SS check for a month.

TLDR version - they determined it was too expensive to stay in the market for limited return, so they walked away and focused elsewhere.   That video could've been an audio thing, as what they showed on screen often had nothing to do with what they were discussing lol.  Still interesting, though.

I think you're missing a lot of the ce1 benefits.  Simplified electricals and controls, simplified stampings, assembly, etc.  Lots that could still be applied to a gas vehicle.  Also cheaper design and engineering.

My Mustang came with summer only tires.  I knew they were summer only, so I was careful in cold weather.  Once they wore out, I switched to all seasons (Michelin Pilot Sport 4S).  Much happier with them and they last longer than the summer only tires. 

I'm saying IF they cancel Ranger in favor of these new more affordable trucks that it makes it possible to fill the gap with a Bronco pickup both in terms of market positioning and factory capacity.  But not saying it's a given.

Wow, it was a stand alone option with 18" wheels.  Very strange!

17 yesterday morning.  😎   I found out on the way home from getting the tire replaced.  It was in the 40s and I hit the gas going around a large roundabout and the rear end tried to become the front end.  Luckily there was plenty of room and I caught it.  Thats when I realized it may have summer tires.

The truck is really super. One great truck. At 15k no issues.

Similar to the Mustang, Ranger has a certain  je ne sais quoi  that to many current and intender Ranger customers, in North America at least, would balk at the idea of a unibody Ranger. If Ranger would have to be absorbed into the Bronco Family (Bronco Ranger? Bronco Ranchero? Grand Ute?) to make MAP more efficient, so be it, but I don't think the plant is running at capacity now, and there is no Bronco shortage that I'm aware of. Ranger can stay a body on frame alternative truck, and I would guess that between the four plants that make them, there is economy of scale for at least some parts.    

I think the base models will be 250-ish.  No different than base model cars having a tiny engine and no options.  Some buyers will get the cheapest version but most will upgrade to a few more options and longer range.
