The best part of all of this is that Ford could bring back Escape intact...just rebadge Kuga as Escape and import it to North America...it is manufactured in Valencia Spain after all....its not like Ford has ever imported a vehicle from Valencia before.
How do they even police this stuff? And in reality, why does it matter? I mean, just because it goes to fordtelematics.com doesn't mean that data isn't accessible by someone in China.
No, not at all.
Lets put this way-the code can't be written by Chinese coders (which might be hard to enforce) nor can it reach back to Chinese owned/operated servers that run telematics and other options.
The code would have to use systems that are in the EU or USA.
So instead of going to say fordtelematics.cn it would need to be pointed to fordtelematics.com or fordtelematics.uk.co or similar.
I deal with this stuff on my day job...an Italian designed helicopter built in PA that is used by the DoD wants to send maintenance data back to Italy for example
Definitely stopgap measures.
BS is small for many buyers, and jumping all the way to Explorer is too large for many.
The new products can't come soon enough, but since it's Ford, they're years away and will likely get cancelled before then.
So you're proposing that Edge had the same style as Explorer, just 2-row/3-row like Grand Cherokee/Grand Cherokee L?
They were working on a CD6 Edge, but the proportions were said to be strange.
I think if Fields had been kept, we would've seen a better/broader CD6 portfolio.
He's talking further back/when Fields was shown the door for not doing enough on BEVs.
Then there was Hackett, but obviously since then, Farley has been in charge of what is essentially no new product since then, mostly cancellations of existing and upcoming products.

AKA More incentives on the Maverick and Bronco Sport if your an Escape owner.
