Well, the decal kit I bought on Amazon was worthless. Way too big. I had to reduce them to 76% on my copier to get to the correct scale. The other issue is that despite what the photo in the Amazon ad shows all you really get is a black outline of the letters which would essentially disappear on a black vehicle. The original decals were white letters with a black outline. Once you peel off the white background paper from the replacements all you're left with is the black outline. They were only about $12 for a full set of six vinyl decals which is a perfect example of you get what you pay for. Needless to say, they didn't get a very positive review from me on Amazon. I'll probably take the reduced size copies to a local vinyl shop to see if they can use them as templates and then see how their price compares to buying them directly from a Can-Am dealer. I was able to find the decals I need at an on-line store that sells Can-Am OEM parts and their price was $116 plus shipping for the full set. However, they didn't have any photos of the color I need so I had to email them a few questions just to confirm whether or not they have the correct color. Still waiting on a reply.

You do realize the 50s, 60s, and 70s when the ranchero was actually around was even further in the past right? So by that logic, even less people would know the ranchero name? Even in its prime, it was still a niche vehicle where it couldn’t even beat out the el Camino. No one cares about the ranchero name besides old timers and ford. People are more likely to think juevos rancheros than ford ranchero these days.

IMO, Ranchero is a nameplate that should not be resurrected regardless of whether this “truck” resembles a ute. Sure, the name perhaps resonates with older folks, but Ford needs to get creative. After all, this is a vehicle of the future (a unicorn), be bold and lean into that concept. -

The thing is the buyers of this product would gave next to no recognition of this because they weren’t even born yet or where very young. you do realize that the 1980s where 40 years ago…. -
Taylor Sheridan’s western themed shows are wildly popular right now. But I took the “herd” terminology as being a play on the Unicorn that was sticking its head out of the Skunk Truck bed.

This is a perfect example of why Lincoln has never pushed onto greater things, this should be a LR MB BMW moment for Lincoln but is this just imaging?

That’s my thought, and it’s not a good choice. Think back to the 50’s and 60’s when the ranchero came out. Westerns were the king of pop culture. From tv, movies and radio to toys and fashion, it was everywhere. It made sense for automakers to jump on this trend with their vehicle names. Nobody cares about any of that now. By the 70s and 80s, the ranchero and el Camino names had a negative connotation to them. These were the stereotypical redneck vehicles. The target audience is the exact opposite of everything mentioned above.

Remember last year when I was talking about this design, I said then that the front is lower and shorter than Maverick and I was a little concerned about how people would receive that but was open to people accepting change after the extreme of Cybertruck. These photos show that proportion and balance in styling is there but I’m not so sure about the level of interest, hopefully that changes by next year. This is a great effort by Ford but you can see it’s all a contrived release to show us what they want us to see.

Would that lean toward Ranchero then? Ranchero is someone living/working on a ranch (theoretically with animals/livestock).

Yeah, I think that particular one is for Bronco.
