Why would a dealer offer more than wholesale on your trade when they can buy 20 of them at auction? Anything over wholesale is just a discount on the new one.
-
He wasn't kidding, there was 100% nothing he could do. Federal penalties apply if a dealer sells a new vehicle with an open recall, to the tune of $27k and change. Add to that Ford killing your allocations for a while, and if it's not a first offence, potentially coming and retrieving inventory, signage, and all other Ford items. Not worth the pain. We actually had a Dark Horse sitting in the showroom through several recalls as well . Couldn't touch the stupid thing. Just after it had its birthday celebration here we were able to move it, right around April.

Talking about sales, I took a 50 minute drive to a neighboring town to look at a leftover 2025 Mustang 60th anniversary convertible in Race Red....sharp but was perplexed about why such an exciting car was languishing on the lot...apparently there is a "stop sale" on it due to a wiper issue (wont work as designed in freezing temps) and I could not even test drive it. But, their offer was a joke for my trade (would have to wholesale it....sure) and they "generously" offered 3K off sticker...the part needed to make the recall repair has been on order since March....I told the sales manager, "You know the window to enjoy this car is closing in 30-45 days..." He shrugged his shoulders and claimed there was not much he could do.....needless to say, I left. -
Ok that makes more sense. The Cyclone/Comet were before my time, and I was only a kid for the Syclone. I coulda swore it was around longer than a year.

Mercury had the Cyclone back in the 60's. Initially a performance version of the Comet, it became its own line in the late 60's. GMC had the Syclone for one year, 1991.

Lightning Sport. Just like they did w/the Bronco,,,,, HRG -
I like the slate. I wouldn’t mind having one as a second vehicle. But the value just isn’t there right now. I’ve heard similar from lots of people. I’ve heard “I’ll buy a used one in a couple years” many times, which isn’t a good sign for slate. They need buyers now.

Ford Fathom rolls off the tongue the best. Ford Cyclone is the coolest name, but isn’t Cyclone a GM truck? Mythic is the best of the rest, but it seems weird having an adjective as the name. Aeromax reminds me too much of Aerostar. Lightstream sounds dumb.

As we know, the Crown Vic was the most beloved police cruiser in history. But its demise spawned the present day SUV. The upside is the Explorers and Tahoes are higher, safer, roomier and have better off-road capabilities.

Agreed, I question the sales depth for it.
