This is frickin ridiculous! Ford is doing an excellent job of making the Explorer even less appealing. I was kicking around buying one more Explorer before downsizing since the Tremor with the 3.0 was kind of interesting, but we routinely open our moonroofs and this guarantees we will not buy one. I hope Ford doesn’t make this stupid decision on their trucks!
I think it’s reasonable to assume they were referencing a moonroof that opens, as I am.
Ironically, my brother-in-law has a Tundra work truck that is a first year model, which makes it a 2022 I believe. The truck has a 104k on the clock already, however the motor just blew while towing a boat back from the lake. Toyota is going to replace the motor because it was covered under the recall they had. While at the dealer, they said there were three other recalls for various things. It’s funny, because I can’t recall the last time I have heard anything about Toyota recalls. Granted Ford has had a ridiculous number of recalls which must be addressed, but it’s pretty easy to protect your quality reputation when you don’t have the media sensationalize every quality woe you have.
Yea, I know of EV6 and Ioniq 5 owners who also had problems with the ICCU (Integrated Converter Control Unit). Them Koreans redesigned the ICCU for 2025 E-GMP vehicles (increased output density and better thermal management among other changes). Sounds like they finally got this fiasco under control.
Yea, GM had regular HEV pickup trucks and SUV using the Two Mode Hybrid system in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Those flopped as well.
The Two Mode Hybrid system was originally invented here in Indiana by Allison Transmission when they part of GM. The system was first applied to transit buses before they found their way to the GM pickups and SUV. Though the technology flopped at GM, Allison has been independent of GM for the past 18 years and continues to refine and advance it.
My neighbor has an EV 6. She's had it a little over a year, and while she enjoys the car overall, she has had the inverter fail twice in that time; currently in the shop. No warning, just no 12v power. The first time it was in the shop for over a month.
I gotta say, I have had sunroofs in my past SUV's (not counting the Bronco...ultimate sunroof option there...lol) but when I ordered my Maverick, I decided I did not want a sunroof and to tell you the truth, I don't really miss it....it's like Ford just "knows" me.....🤨
