Hiring F1 development engineers and technicians is smart and refreshing.
It shows that Ford is looking for people with a completely new perspective
on how to reform that current aero/corporate styling. They know where to
find the hidden “slipperiness”. I look forward to seeing how this works out.
My line of thinking is if Ford is already having to apply radical areo to these new EVs anyways, they may as well lean into the sleek/futuristic look. Selling more futuristic stuff alongside more conservative designs would cast as wide of a net as possible.
This rendering is of a Honda CRV proposal, but when I think of a sleek, lower to the group and areo dynamic shape, this is the sort of thing that would appeal to me. When Farley talks about making future cars passion products, I imagine a hatchback that looks more like this rendering than a conventional focus/fiesta. Something that really stands out more for a very reasonable price.
Ford could really screw up with this areo driven designs philosophy, or they can use it to turn ordinary cars into something stunning. Let's hope it's the later.

"Basically, having a regular $25K model is pointless. It would be silly. It would be completely at odds with what we believe," Elon Musk said on Tesla's third-quarter earnings call. He was responding to a question about when investors can expect a $25,000 non-robotaxi electric car.
Above from Musk during Wednesday’s earnings call. It appears he doesn’t believe people need to drive in the future; or that any of us enjoy driving. I would guess he doesn’t like driving and assumes everyone else will feel the same if given the opportunity to experience autonomous cars; in this case Cybercab or Robotaxi. He may be right, but if so, it will be a sad day when we don’t have the option to drive. I suppose his decision at least leaves door open for other manufacturers to build affordable normal BEVs with less direct competition.
You think, that’s flippin stupid. You can respect your competition, but you don’t make public statements like that. This is the type of comment that makes me question his judgment.
While I don’t disagree there was pent up demand for Toyota customers, I drive by a Toyota dealer for work, and I have regularly seen representation of Fords, GMs, and Rams in the trade in lot, so it’s not all Tundras being traded. I know these are arbitrary observations, but I’m not exaggerating when I say I have seen a ton of new Tundras in my area.
I own a 2006 crown vic and tge code b1600 (pats) came on. Idk how exactly it was caused, but i do know that the one key i have for the car is old and the black chip on the top where the transponder is supposed to be is rotted away. I dont want to go to the ford dealership to fix the issue because they will charge an arm and a leg. Are there any other budget friendly options?
You're absolutely right, and lordy, do we have short memories. I remember the smugness the Big 3 had when Japanese cars first appeared in the U.S. in the 60's/70's. Rice-burners they were called, and nobody is going to buy them. Well, we all know what happened there. Ditto with the Koreans in the 80's. And now the Chinese are threatening to take over the automotive world and, again, that same smugness has reared its ignorant head. Will we ever learn? At least Farley has enough guts to say the Chinese can build a pretty good car. Only the uninformed can argue with this.
